A couple of weeks ago we showed you David’s awesome garage transformation in France, but that was far from his first tiny project. He built this awesome tiny house on wheels in Kenya, where he and his wife live while she was researching for a book on African myths.
His design is remarkable, with “two-floor” design that allows standing space in the loft as well as plenty of space on the ground level. Enjoy the photos below and read David’s story after the photo tour.

The Story:
I am about to go back to Kenya to do the final work on the Bush House, our 215Sq ft unit out there.
There is an album on it, and I will be taking new pictures as we will sell it this year in kenya as the first tiny house there. I already have an offer which goes live in August this year, unless someone comes up with a huge desire!I hadn’t seen a tiny house where you could stand up upstairs, and wondered if having a partial lower ceiling in one part under which you could sit would allow an upstairs walkway. Originally this was reached by a ladder, but the stair was put in as an easier climb for the older generation.
This was also built to introduce THOWs to Kenya, where they simply haven’t been seen yet. The roads aren’t as good as the western world, hence the land rover compatible tyres and clearances.
This goes hand in hand with the book my wife is starting which is looking at the mythical side of african legends. The THOW is planned to give us access to time spent close to the tribal bases to increase our access to local lore and fauna and flora, to deepen the reality of what is written and illustrated.

I love the “Off the shelf” components where you aren’t locked in to expensive RV or marine equipment. The stand up loft is a given in my mind. Not fond of lofts anyway except for storage. Great use of space and it fits the environment for Kenya. Well done!
What little I know of Kenya the decor matches the lifestyle. I am intrigued by the idea of using this home to learn more of local history for the book. May you gather much info and enjoy living locally as this sounds rather fun. Would like to see more similar home built a bit wider. This model appears 6 feet wide inside. How long is it? I also like the idea of standing up to crawl into bed. I failed to notice if there is a boundary to reduce falls from foot of bed to area below.
This looks really nice and well thought out with the stand up loft idea. And the basic simplicity of the design too! Isn’t that the idea of tiny homes? Looks like a lot of local materials and repurposed materials as well .
