Kendal and Nathan’s Converted Garage Tiny House

This is Kendal and Nathan’s Tiny House in a converted two-car garage.

The space is great, and even though Kendal doesn’t say so, it’s quite larger than many THOWs we see here on Tiny House Talk.  I wanted to share it to inspire folks who might have unused or under-used space in their garages that could make great tiny apartments! The main living area includes space for a full kitchen and living room, as well as a desk and dining table. There’s a bathroom downstairs and then steps lead up to the loft where they have their bed and storage.

The ceilings are low in the second story, but besides that I think this is a great, livable little home! Could you live here?

This desk would be amazing for working from home!

Little dining room table is perfect for a couple.

Living room with Target furniture. Wooh!

That’s a GIANT TV. It’d make movie dates fun.

Looking into the bathroom. Shower/tub and toilet.

Upstairs loft with hanging storage in the “low” part

That isn’t a garage it is an apartment. Nice.

Haha I think it was a garage before it became an apartment 🙂

It was definitely a garage. See the narrow windows by the bed in the interior photos, then look at the exterior wall. Instead of taking out the garage door and installing one huge window, they put in several smaller, narrow windows–gives light but still provides privacy.

The loft space in this conversion is similar to lofts in THOW’s.

So I don’t see that as a problem for most people who would happily live in a THOW with a loft.

Me personally it wouldn’t work as I have not only mobility issues these days but also bending issues. Crouching in a loft just wouldn’t work for me.

For a THOW you could have the loft expand up for more headroom. I am doing that for my Tiny and it will be a little over 6ft when expanded. I am 5-9.

Yes you’d need to be fairly mobile to make it work. Very low!
