I really love the contemporary clean line interior. The unique “extra” seating/storage area surrounded on 3 sides by windows is very attractive. The pull-out bed is a marvel of double and even triple use (don’t forget the night tables!). I would love to know the mechanism in use here. I am sorry to not have a peek at the kitchen and bathroom, but judging from the cupboards (which many tiny homes seem not to favor any more) and especially that floor to ceiling pull-out pantry, I am sure both areas will be equal to the rest of the house’s conveniences and smart use of space. I noted also, one on either side of the platform, there are 2 doors. The space is very narrow but if 2 hanging rods were connected and could be rolled out on wheels for complete access, it would be very adequate. I am not so excited by the exterior, but I am sure it could be changed. I would love to know the square footage, the ceiling height and the price, if they offer to build one. Then I would move right in! : )

They no longer make them, wasn’t enough interest and initial units weren’t low cost enough at $139,000… Dimensions are 30′ 9″ x 11′ 9″ for about 354 Sq Ft of living space…

The bed is a trundle bed, the seat folds forward to become the foot of the bed and the whole thing just slides out like a drawer… Living room/bedroom is about 144 Sq Ft, kitchen is 84 Sq Ft, bathroom is 52 Sq Ft and the entryway is 30 Sq Ft… Between the entryway and the two steps down to the living room area is under floor storage compartment that basically means you can pull the stairs out like another big drawer, and there is a closet between the kitchen and bathroom… Similarly, the front area has some storage built-ins as well…

If you do a search on the Kasita you’ll find a number of videos and articles on it to see just about every detail…

The guy behind it was originally famous for turning a garbage dumpster into a home, went on to the Kasita as a modular housing system people could buy to own but could still be stacked into apartment complexes for high density areas… While present project is modular low cost kits that can be flat packed to move and are scalable but start out with basically a bedroom with tube framing that you can throw a canvas over for an enclosure but can be eventually turned into something more. Just allows starting at a very low price and present business model is to offer them free to land owners who will provide a place for them and they get a share of the profits from renting them out… Seeking to be affordable, low entry, minimum environmental impact, and very flexible…
