THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL HOME. ALSO A NICE GET AWAY RETREAT.
Ironically, unlike Alice Brenner, I find this building both sterile and boring. So no, I would not buy/build like this place at all.
This looks like a very nice, tranquil place to stay. There is lots to see in Portland Maine.
Portland Oregon. A mere 3,000 miles away. Sauvie’s Island is down-home lovely. Beaches, berries, produce and events.
Hah, if it flew from my place (fat chance) it’d only be 18 1/2 hours flight time. Add on another 6 hours or so to navigate customs etc… oh a mere day.
I see the kitchenette but I don’t see a sink!
Wondering how they wash their dishes & also where on earth is the shower?
Looks like someone’s trying for the Scandinavian open plan look? Definitely NO privacy! Looks more like a studio/bedsit!
Maybe they do it like our ancestors did. In a basin on the bench. Then chuck the water outside. Advantages are no plumbing taking up space in the cabinets. Disadvantages, if not careful could have water all over the floor. And the bathroom and toilet are in that little hallway. Go to airbnb site and have a look at all 54 photos.
Hi! I love Sauvie Island! I took my Kids there when they were young! How may I find out more about the home? I tried all the buttons and got nowhere! I’d like to know the asking price & it’s part of a co op, RT? It isn’t on its own land? GramiPami 🙂
Interesting layout but way too many windows for me, NO privacy!
I too am wondering where is the kitchen sink or is there just one in the bathroom area?
I am glad the comments section cleared up the location of the house. Writers should clarify locations in articles referring to city names. Chances are there are even more than two Portlands in the USA, though I am too lazy to research that point. I didn’t write the article. The rivers flowing through and around Portland, Oregon are quite stunning and this cottage is stunning as well.
I wouldn’t exactly call this a home. It does not seem livable for any extended period of time. There is only one comfortable chair available to sit in and as many have said, there is no privacy. I would stay here in lieu of a hotel room, to enjoy the surrounding outdoors and nature, but definitely would not “live” there.
Yea it’s been designed as a vacation spot, so some of the necessary elements of a home are missing, for sure. Although, it’s very similar in design to many studio apartments, and you can always get a comfy chair! I love my ugly one haha!
