Cobworks built this small home in 1999 using natural materials: clay, sand, and straw. It’s a fully permitted, 2-story, load-bearing cob structure.

It’s nice to see so much interest in a green building like this, and to see that this cob structure has been standing for almost 20 years and still looks brand new! Check out the video below to see the full tour.

I love how this is built! Wonderfully planned! The only things I would do different is for an 800 sq.foot house there should be an oven and regular sized drug. But that is just a personal choice.

I like a lot of the alternative building materials. Love the looks of this type of buildings, seems like a hobit house to me. Luv them.

Cob houses are so enchanting and I love their look! All of the ones I have seen are little gems, for sure. They do lack something that I would want in one, though, as I would want in any home. There never seems to be any wall long enough for a nice comfy sofa. I see lots of benches and futons, as in this one, but I like a nice deep sofa that you can curl up on and watch a movie or three. The fabulous cob houses I have seen are so wonderful to visit but if you want to live in one, there needs to be some elbow room for creature comforts. One standout feature in this one is that staircase! Amazing! The fireplace is great! Always nice to see what people do with their cobs so thanks for sharing!
