His LEGAL Silicon Valley Tiny Home Zoned as Accessory Dwelling Unit

This post contains affiliate links.

After quarantines and lockdowns became a normal part of life, Teja was looking for a place of his own instead of living with roommates — but when the average cost of a home in San Jose where he lives was over $1 million, there was just no way he could get into the housing market.

That’s when San Jose agreed to allow ADUs in the city, and Teja worked as a trailblazer to get his professionally-built tiny house on wheels approved on his parent’s property. He’s now using that experience to help others get legal tiny homes situated in the city. What do you think of his awesome tiny?

I love your tiny home Teja! I was particularly interested in the tour of the exterior and your utilities hook-ups. Most tours concentrate on the interiors, so getting up close (and personal?) with your sewage system was pretty interesting. I was also interested to hear how, as the first backyard ADU in San Jose, you helped to establish the path to follow for others. I also enjoyed seeing some of your “toys” – your telescope, your cool – and tiny – stereo setup, your gazebo games. It sounded like you made most if not all of the decor decisions, and I really liked how the interior looked. Great home! Best of luck to you!

Looks like we need a floor plan sketch artist on the team! Is anybody interested? 😀

What a truly legal tiny home that conforms to building codes should look like. BTW, FABULOUS handrail!
