Just a Big NO for the hot plate to be near the electrical outlet…….any contrator will tell you that is dangerous.

It is not a gas hotplate, so the biggest problem is reaching over the hotplate to access the outlet. Move it over to one sidie when in use and all should be fine.

Well, more like they would tell you of potential dangers, because it’s not automatically dangerous just sitting there and not even plugged in… If you look at the appliances on the counter top, except for the space heater, none of them are plugged in…

Dangers are more about whether or not you’re using the appliance properly anyway, as even the toaster can be dangerous if you use it improperly. The usual warning for a hot plate is that they can get very hot and that means you have to watch out for sufficient distance for heat dissipation, clearances from combustibles, etc. but as it’s movable that’s easily manageable and as little as 12 inches can be sufficient spacing… You’d usually have to worry more about the power cord…

However, it’s not actually a hot plate but an induction cook top. In terms of heat there’s virtually no danger because it doesn’t radiate heat but only induces it directly to the cookware. Danger of proximity is more to sensitive electronics, pace makers, etc. that may be effected by the EM field it generates but otherwise it’s very safe…

Besides, it’s portable and you can just move it when you actually use it… The counter space between the fridge and sink would be more convenient for actual cooking anyway…

Good observation, James! I wouldn’t have noticed that. I have friends who use induction cook tops and love them and would not go back to a regular cook tops because the induction ones are so much safer. There is a whole other counter on the other side to which the cook top can be moved, too.

Weird looking hot plate from my perspective. They’ve all been square/oblong shaped here in New Zealand.

Not all, look up NuWave Precision Induction Cooktop, for example, which is available in NZ… and looks to be this particular model…

More rounded cook tops used to be more common, mind the main component is a circular flat coil, and that used to take up quite a bit of space in the product, but as the technology improved over the years they became squarer and flatter, and now there’s even options to have them integrated into a counter top so no one will know they’re there unless you tell them or start using it in front of them…

Usage has also grown over the years but that also means the older ones were more rarely seen. So not really unusual that you didn’t see all versions of them before now…

This tiny house is sweet! I love it! It is hard to see, but I think there is a long skinny window along the back of the loft for ventilation. Am I wrong? The outside ambience alone is worth the stay. So pretty!

Not sure it’s for ventilation but there is a long skinny window back there. Just not much light because it’s under the roof overhang on that side… There’s another one facing the front where the roof line splits as well… All the windows look fixed and hand made…

While it looks like they added through wall venting by the front entrance that leads to the bathroom… A small port above and towards the middle just below the roof line and another, larger vent grill, below, near the floor and right next to the front entrance…

This “hillbilly chic” t.h. would be horribly hot in a Middle Tennessee summer if it only has a cooling fan without an a.c.
