Her Tiny House With A Tall Loft in Alaska

This post contains affiliate links.

Crystal is a self-proclaimed introvert who prefers living on her own, so she jumped at the opportunity to put down roots in the “middle-of-nowhere” Alaska in her own dry tiny cabin.

She purchased her basic shell about four years ago, and has used reclaimed, thrifted, and gifted materials to transform the place into her happy home. During the past 9 months she’s been adding a loft to the space and creating a master bedroom. Her next project will be getting a shallow well so she can have running water.

Her simple life has made her grateful for the little things — like electricity which she lived without for a whole year! Watch her interview with Tiny Home Tours below.

What a great build. A real loft is a nice change.

Wow she’s really accomplished a lot all by herself out in the middle of nowhere. I would love to see an update when she gets her water.

I would be too afraid of the dark, haha!

It is sooo adorable! I love the high pitched roof and all the space it gives you upstairs. It will also shed the snow a little quicker. The kitchen is wonderful and you have a lot of living space, too. Well done, Allison!

I am really impressed at her accomplishment and ability to create something so beautiful with recycled goods. Well done!

I have so many questions…. toilet (?), sewage, brown water, how does she get electric (?) Solar panels? Propane? Mail/package delivery? Food?

She has an outhouse. I believe she ran the electric lines because previously she was just hooked up to a neighbor. She has propane for the oven and stove. And I’m sure she can go to a post office and grocery store — she just has to plan for it.

Thankyou! It’s a beautiful house, for sure.

That must be really cold in winter. There is no insulation in the upstairs bedroom.

Not when it was filmed. If you go on her Instagram page she just insultated it.

Yes, the home is a work in progress but she’s getting it done…

Wow! What a great job! Beautiful home. I know Alaskan’s mainly use outhouses, due to location, but I need indoor plumbing. Otherwise, I think she did a perfect job. Great use of space, and I love that she’s committed to minimalist living. I’ve always dreamed of building a small home using as much recycled and up cycled materials.

I’m pretty fond of indoor plumbing myself! Especially in the cold.

She sounds like a California girl. : ) She seems more like an extrovert, too. Pleasant young lady. I like that she can stand up and walk around in her bedroom. There’s plenty of room for storage up there, too. She has a beautiful location.

She is so creative and resourceful. Much respect and appreciation for her and her cute little tiny (and tiny junior!) Thanks, Natalie!
