Her Florida Micro Cottage (Living Tiny For 3+ Years)

This post contains affiliate links.

This is the story of Barbara Diaz and her micro cottage on wheels that she designed and built herself just a few years back. And believe it or not, it’s still not completely finished! Don’t we hear that a lot from many tiny housers?

It’s almost like a home is never really finished right? That’s probably because we’re always evolving and changing (and so is just about everything around us), so as everything changes, so do our needs, and therefore, so does our home! So anyway, here’s an update from Barbara and her micro cottage on wheels down in Florida (Okeechobee). Unfortunately, like many other tiny homeowners, Barbara ran into issues with parking when the RV park was sold, but she ultimately overcame the problem and found a new home in a nearby park.

Tiny House Parking Isn’t Always Easy

Like many other tiny home owners, parking hasn’t always been the easiest thing. Barbara was able to live among other THOW-owners in a community, but once it was sold to new owners, new management didn’t want the tiny houses on wheels. So they were basically booted but fortunately they were all able to relocate to another park nearby.

Gracious Tiny House Park in Florida

We are a handful of THOWs (Tiny Houses on Wheels) living legally on land in South Florida. This small, family-owned RV park along the shores of Lake Okeechobee has a growing number of Tiny Houses coming together to form a tiny house community. We enjoy the peaceful surroundings of south-central Florida’s wildlife. As space comes available, we want to grow into Florida’s best lakefront tiny home community.

Three Years Living In Her Tiny House

This February marks the 3rd year I’m living in my Take-Me-Home (of course it’s still not finished! LOL) but I am happily residing along the beautiful waterway surrounding Lake Okeechobee and GraciousTinyHousePark, altho it has been MOVED, is still alive and well!
I just wanted to thank you all for coming along on this journey and my first milestone of 1000 page likes. THANK YOU ALL!!!

I’m in love with your community. Best I’ve seen so far. Calif has nothing on your little sunset. And I live in calif. I would leave my place instantly to come live in your home. You rock. How do I follow u.

I am looking for a more traditional looking tiny house in case my daughter lets me put it in her vast backyard. I want it to look like a playhouse or with the traditional cottage look. After I am gone; my grandkids can use it as a get away. Or hang out with me while I am here. I just want something that Zoning will see more as a dollhouse rather than an intrusion in an upper middle class neighborhood. Something I snuggle up to their woods in the back and let the deer look in the window. If it is on wheels; I can decorate a flower garden or mini stone wall to block the look of the wheels. Can you guide me there.
