Nomad Settles Down to Tiny House Village in Austin

Iris lived as a digital nomad when her job when virtual, and then decided to fulfill her long-time tiny living dreams (she used to be hooked on the HGTV shows) by purchasing a Casa de Canto Park Model in a tiny house village in Austin, Texas.

While this 399 sq. ft. model does have a downstairs bedroom, she uses it as her office space and sleeps upstairs in the loft, which she thinks is super cozy! Her large living room features a cozy stove and her vast book collection, including a “Murphy” table that drops down for mealtime.

I love so much about this. How about the “fireplace”? The full-sized appliances?, That fabulous piece in the living area that offers so much storage and looks so nice? — Since she admits she isn’t big on cooking, the smaller kitchen counter space is understandable — having a dishwasher, tho, is swell.
Her outdoor space is great too. There is so much good light here and while it is larger than a true tiny — it seems to be all one would need. She also wanted full size furniture and that works well as well as does her remote office space. I so agree with the bathroom — since one doesn’t spend much time there — this size looks good -and the med. cabinet is great. (I would prefer a smaller shower so a small tub would be great). Since she spent lots of time researching tiny homes, I think the homework paid off for her!!! So very nice!!!

Yes for me the bathroom is definitely the first place I would sacrifice space!

While slightly wider and longer than I like, this is an excellent size and roof type that you can use regular furniture and very simple, fast to build.
10′ wide works well saving some money and easier to move with a cheap permit. 12′ is ok but mostly just leaves more center space which some might value.

Now this is the kind of tiny home I would love to live in. If ever there will be a Tiny home community in my area, I’d put my name on it, and stake it at the drop of a hat.
