Her 450 Square Foot Park Model Trailer Home

It’s always a joy to meet people like Linda, a true gem who worked hard to make her tiny home dreams come true! Today, she is going to walk us through her story about how she converted a run-down trailer and made it home. I’ll let her take the wheel…

For the price of a used car I found my first home a rundown trailer with no functioning parts, Uninhabitable at that and for the last 2.5 years, I have been cutting, digging, cleaning, designing, planting, buying and selling furniture from Day 1 to now. I have finally found what is the perfect dream home in a 450 Sq Ft Tiny Trailer. Who needs Barbie’s beach house? I would rather live Tiny in my PNK*DMD….

Her ‘Hyline Hilton’ Park Model Tiny Home

I am located At the first exit to Paso Robles (101) southbound on the Central Coast of California. Halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Tucked away in the corner of the Paso Robles Mobile Estates #6, is a small park of less than 100 permanent and “Reserved” spaces; some residents have been here for 20 years.

We are located just 2 miles from the MidState Fairgrounds. Every year I am serenaded with the greatest acts from the MidState Fair. Despite the turbulent transition, I have settled in a place to call home for myself and my furbabies.

I have had to learn so much from transitioning from the Rental Apt Life to the tiny glamping and propane world. I was terrified of everything that made my Hyline operate. My mother may she RIP was a master home maker. I am a 30 year paper pusher and when I moved I had no idea how to hook up a propane tank let alone glamp.

What sold me on this tiny trailer ? The tree trunk. It still amazes me that a tree trunk would create such a great planter. The other winner was the operating cassette deck and the Antenna that needs to be registered every year with the DMV.

I have always likened my home to a Movie Star Trailer. Tiny Home living is not an easy transition as it does indeed take a lot of ingenuity to downsize evern from a 2 bdrm. At this point? I cannot see myself living in a bigger home. On the Furbaby front, I am sure they would appreciate me not stepping on them but regardless we have all learned to watch tails.

The biggest challenge? Vermin, insects and spiders. ANTS! Glamping comes along with what I call the 7 plagues, the weather in Paso Robles is a rollercoaster per season. I have endured 29 deg winters to 114 degrees summers. My budget largely goes to insect repellents each year.

The Hyline Hilton’s garden area is Under CONSTRUCTION under the canopies is the future of Tiny Trailer Jamz, the most informal, selfie stick youtube channel out there, BUT the talent will amaze ya. , a place where musicians can jam , record.

I have always been able to sing out in public but I have reached a creative stage in my music life wanting to be closer to home but this time I have a permanent home to create from.

I could not have done this without my UPS guy, Robert and his back up drivers. He oddly has a white UPS truck. He has been instrumental in this fun look. He has delivered everything for the last few months with such a great attitude. Any other driver would have hated me.. The neighbors laugh that there are deliveries all week long. “What is she getting now?” They have never seen this place fixed up or that I have the largest yard in the Park.

I never imagined this 1997, 30 yr old Park Model Hyline GP , would be so fun to live in.
In my fierce union days/ life, I really enjoyed those rooms, and I always told God I would be content living in a hotel room.

Well here we are, a modern hotel spin in a 30 yr old shell. That’s why I call it the Hyline Hilton, but I leave the light on. I even have a laundry service that picks up and drops off my laundry. I could not be more grateful for how this trailer has turned out.

The design is completely based on sales and color scheme. In other words, it was accidental including the paint colors. This is just the start, I have many more design ideas now that I understand how to live Tiny.

Feel free to come back and check in, in 2023 to see the final design outside also.

Park Models are simply permanent dwellings. I understand there are a few in SLO County. It is not easy to rehab as the dimensions are made smaller than a traditional 1 Bdr. MH and much larger than an RV.

Don’t you love her amazing boot storage!?

I love this inspiring story and her cozy home!! It’s relatable-I still don’t ever believe I have the skills/resources to do this though I’d love to live like this in a more stable & reliable situation without the constant fear of rising rent and depleting apartment inventory. And Pasa Robles is one of my favorite places. I’m so envious! You go babe! Such admiration for you!💕🐾🐝

Getting into a small lifestyle is the hard part. After you do it for a period you realize there are professional handymen that can just about cover any skills needed and your creative ideas are the limits. Now I would not let anything but funding hold up a remodel to most Park Models, making it your own. I have been by this Park many times and the location is prime but it does get hot each summer. The rest of the year it has near-perfect weather. Pests are something we face in any property, many times people do not realize as most rentals have a pest service included and unnoticed. She has found out what fits her lifestyle…KUDOS
