He Lost His Job & Is Building a Tiny House Vacation Business

This post contains affiliate links.

Like so many others, Jacob lost his job in the pandemic fallout. A former video producer, he decided to use his skills to create a YouTube channel following his build of a gorgeous tiny house cabin — and now, a whole tiny house vacation village in the Cotswolds, UK!

Little Orchard Hideaways is Jacob’s amazing solution to his unemployment! He currently lives tiny on a boat (you can follow that on his YouTube channel as well), while creating this Airbnb venture. Jacob is a real inspiration to all of us. Check out pictures of his first cabin below, and be sure to follow him on Instagram, check out his tiny house village, and subscribe to his YouTube channel for more!

Picnic table seating, that can hide-away!

Now it’s folded up! Room for dancing.

Love the look of this roof!

And here’s the bedroom. Dreamy.

    a)
Instead of ‘epidemic’, I believe ‘this phase of this Economic Lock-Down’ is accurate.

    b)
    Nice door.

You’re absolutely right, it isn’t an epidemic its a pandemic. Anyway, the man has made the best of the situation and is self sustaining, unlike many who moan and don’t do something about it. Many all over the world have had career changes and haven’t looked back. And I say good on them, coz they’re the salt of the earth.

There is good money doing this, building THs for rent or sale.
Building say a 4-8 TH compound at $10k each and $20k-$50k for land and you have a nice income to retire on.

It makes me realize 3 bedroom, big kitchen is not where I should be at this time of my life. His home meets all necessities. I would like a comfy chair and easier stairs, but otherwise what more do you need. Of course, they didn’t show the shed which is filled with his tools, extra wood, and building materials. But, I do love his kitchen set up.

Too much to clean! We live on the edge of a development with homes 3x the size of ours and all I can think is how much I’d hate cleaning all those rooms!

I hate cleaning 1 room. But if don’t do it nobody else will. Simple fact of life.

    . . . amazing how no one mentioned anything about a “bathroom”!, . . . . so I won’t either.

Joseph, I have to mention it too. But I suspect there is a bathroom in a house off camera that one can use. I have to say that it appears a lot bigger on the inside than I expected from its outside. Quite a nice kitchen for its size as well, and I love the fold up picnic style table. The bed might be a bit claustrophobic for some, kinda being the size of an MRI interior. But what the heck, you WILL fall asleep and it won’t bother you any more. add a toilet (for one person it needs only to be maybe behind a nice colorful screen) and maybe an outdoor shower and its super!! Nice job for a first-timer!

Yes as Kathy said, I imagine he is going to make some kind of bathhouse on the property because he is making a campground-like spot with multiple tiny house buildings for people to rent out.

Jacob, I spent a good deal of my life building boats and plenty of time without power. your use of tools and the construction of this beautiful structure is beyond wonderful.
Thank you for your documentation and lovely imagination.

Man you are great , just put an escape ,ventilation window in the darn thing and you have a winner .
If you do not when my Great grand kids rent it and burn up I will clean you out for failing to perform due dilegence. who is going to inspect this thing as it is here and pass it? No one and without that you can not get Financing for the buyer.
Keep going and I am sure you will be well rewarded. Just set a trash can on fire down stairs for a prime example and you will change your mind right quick. You can buy an escape ladder for pocket change that mounts under the window for people who would be afraid to jump.
