He Came Home to a Bus in His Driveway: “This is Our Tiny Home!”

“Hey, whose bus is in the driveway?” – Chris

“That’s our tiny home.” – Chris’ wife, Carol

And that’s how it all started! After Chris and Carol saw skoolies at an Atlanta tiny house show, Carol caught the bug, and two weeks later Chris came home to the bus Carol purchased.

Then he and some friends got to work on building out their vacation skoolie, which they use as empty-nesters to travel wherever their hearts take them. Chris is a true gem, so be sure to watch the Tiny Home Tours interview below!

Chris and Carol, you did a great job on your schoolie makeover. Has everything you need, and just the way you want it. Chris is a big man, has a big heart, and needs a big bus to take them to the many exciting places they will visit. Wonderful to know your joy and delight with what you two have done together is to be shared with others as you go meandering through your adventures. You built a great nest, and it sure is not empty, but full of your personalities. Enjoy your blessed space and thank you for sharing. Brenda

Nice little home! My wife and I are in our 60’s but if we were younger we would ditch all this house full of stuff and build our own tiny convertion. Go out and enjoy life!

I’m sure you don’t want to read the book of everything I love about this build but I have got to say that the attention to detail in this is extraordinary. If they decide to start a business doing bus builds the line of people wanting one is going to be a long one.

Those green curtains are horrific. They really, really look like tacky 70’s crap. It’s a shame because rest of the conversion is modern looking and beautifully done.

Listen, they are not my style either, but did you see how sweet he was complimenting his wife on her interior design skills? They both love it, so all the power to them.

      a. your color blind! Those are blue and I believe she decorated it in red, white and blue to honor his service. b. you need to step back and stand down. This man obviously loves his wife very much and she returns that by her actions.

Lol… sure, what I noticed is he went out of his way to point out these curtains were not his doing. And did it in a way that kept him out of trouble with the domineering partner that got a SCHOOL BUS without consulting him first!

Hmm, I’d say you’re projecting, there’s multiple ways to interpret what he stated but your interpretation doesn’t seem to factor the other things he stated like getting the kitchen the way he prefers, having a man cave section for himself, details he did himself, how genuinely happy he appears, etc. and he could have been neutral on the curtains and just given his wife credit for doing the decoration without going out of his way to praise her work if he really didn’t like them…

Mo, you need to open your mind up a bit….to say nothing of your heart. She did not make the curtains to please you, she did it to please him. AND, it appears he was thrilled that she bought the bus, for when he saw it in the driveway, he was motivated to work with her on their long talked about dream.

Don’t you get it Mo? It’s not about curtains or who makes the decision, (maybe so in your relationship,) but obviously, it was fine with him. These guys are happy and living their dream. Is that part not apparent to you?

That is what is great about these tiny house newsletters. We get to see and hear about what others are doing and how proud they are. It may not be your taste, but that is not the point. There is so much to learn from the work of others. There is so much to learn from the life of others. Appreciate the fact that he shared his joy with all of us.

I am sorry that you labeled his wife as domineering. To me, even though he was the main, out-going gregarious personality, does not diminish her importance. Many of us like to be the person behind the person, and none of us know her, so it is best not to point and judge. Appears they have a fun marriage, and that was refreshing. Respectfully, Brenda

Hmmmm, guess we’ll never know for sure what this admittedly lovely gentleman thinks of these giant velvety green curtains. But one thing IS for certain, they do not match the beautiful, stylish and smartly done rest of this bus conversion’s features… Let us let peace reign for this couple ✌️ .

Although they look velvety in some of the video they match the cornices and look to me to be a beautiful brocade. When the lights hit them they have and altering shine and seem to have light reflection.
