This post contains affiliate links.

This garage was converted into a 340 sq. ft. tiny cottage with an upstairs loft by ART Design Build.

When you go inside you’ll find an open living area that converts into a bedroom with the use of a murphy bed. The same living area triples its functionality by serving as an office with the built in desk and shelving in the room. In addition you’ll find a kitchen, bathroom, and upstairs sleeping loft as you continue exploring this tiny cottage below.

So how would you like living simply in a beautiful little cottage like this one? It would definitely do the trick for me! How about for you? Either way, please enjoy, learn more, and re-share below. Thank you!

This is beautifully done. Our first home was a 350 square foot converted turn of the century vacation “home.” It featured a sink just like the one in this kitchen except ours was green. 🙂

Give me a full size fridge and stairs up to the loft and I’m there!

I agree with Marcy–especially the stairs! I know the space limits might prohibit the inclusion of stairs, but I’d want ’em anyway.

Hmm, perhaps if you would like stairs going up to a bedroom, one alternative is to remove the Murphy Bed ( Appro 16″ depth, depending upon brand) and replace it with your stairs in this manner: wrapping the stairs from the wall where the picture is on the left, to a landing in the corner, and then up to the top. The typical rise is 7″ – 8″, depending upon local building code, the height of the wall where the Murphy Bed is will be approximarely 8’3″, so you can do the math.

Very sweet. Seems to have most of the mod cons…tuck in a w/d and hand me the keys!

This is truly an exceptional conversion and one of the most well designed use of space I’ve seen for a small home. What a beautiful kitchen. The framed but open shelving and the color are the icing on the cake. This bathroom looks very roomy and comfortable. it has everything you need and still has a lot of space to move around comfortably. I’d love to have a peek at the loft. It looks like a fully functional space with room to stand up, get dressed and move around. Love, love, love it.

This is about as good as it gets in a small space. Bravo! Clean lines, great lighting and a real sink. A lot of thought in the floor plan. Bathrooms are always awkward in a tiny area, but they handled it superbly. Congratulations to the designers.

Oh, and I love the creative way the lights are arranged in the kitchen. What a beautiful, whimsical touch.

Really love this, however, like the others think the approx. cost involved, etc. be noted.

Isn’t the cost somewhat irrelevant? Depends on where you live, if in the US then some parts are horrendously expensive. Can you say California? Others relatively cheap… and then again if from another country price may be reasonable there but look horrendous to US citizens.

I would like to know the dimensions of the loft and the entire house. Is there any closet or storage space anywhere? Is the bathroom big enough to add a combo washer/dryer? The overall layout is very livable and roomy. It’s a great design. Kiddos to Art Design Build.

The question most people always want to know – how much??? I checked the website and didn’t see a cost for this…. anyone know? This type of tiny house would be perfect for me, now I just need to find someone willing to let me convert a garage they happen to not be using – shouldn’t be too hard. 🙂

This is one of the best conversions I have seen. The attention to detail is wonderful. You get a very cozy and homelike feel in this home. It seems very spacious for the square footage. I am a full size fridge person but I am sure that could be worked into this design. Wonderful design!

This conversion-cabin is quite well done. A washer-dryer would add convenience, so it may be worth considering a combo washer-dryer unit for similar small homes.
I am a fan of the basic Murphy Bed concept. There are newer versions that incorporate a desk unit that “disappears” when one wants to transition from work to sleep mode.

I love this particular creamy decor, and the hide-a-bed/murphy is a great addition. I think those who expect an entertainment centre behind there will be quite intrigued at the possibilities of a different kind of entertainment.

I LOVE that Sink!!!! with it’s own modelled-in backsplash and drain board. And the fold-in Ladder! So many great ideas.
