Tim and Erica were living in a New York City apartment, but finding a simpler, more sustainable way of life really inspired them to take the plunge into building their own debt-free tiny home. Both artists, this house has all kinds of beautiful aesthetic choices to make it really theirs.
Even though it took 2.5 years to do the build (paying cash the whole way), they aren’t finished! Eventually, they have plans to finish going totally off-grid and expand their home to just under 600 square feet so they can have a ground-floor bedroom and some extra room for their respective hobbies. Artists’ Almost Off-Grid Homestead Tiny House

The layout of their tiny house is really unique. There’s an upstairs loft with a skylight and a cozy lower-level living area with wallpaper. The entry door is green from the outside, and orange on the inside.

Their tiny house has a wonderful kitchen with lots of windows, another skylight, and this wonderful bar table with an extension for additional counter space.

Abundant windows flood the kitchen area with natural light, creating an inviting atmosphere. The additional skylight overhead enhances the brightness and adds to the overall sense of openness. What adds a special touch to their kitchen is the innovative bar table with an extension, providing extra counter space for meal preparation and dining. This thoughtful design element not only maximizes utility in the compact space but also serves as a cozy spot to enjoy meals and connect with each other in their beautifully crafted tiny home.

What a lovely home you two have designed and built. I love the colorful exterior – those shingles are terrific with the color of the window trim. Its just so happy and playful. I also love the mixed colors of your kitchen tiles. Your pride – which is well-deserved – in the hand-work that you put into your tiny house shows at every turn. Congratulations!
Delightful tiny home — you can tell two very creative and talented people designed it. I really like what they have done — only artists could have enhanced this space. No doubt their plans for a future space will be great as well. BTW: Fell in love with their Bulldog — who is living best life ever :)!

Hate to be a killjoy but I love the interior but, oh my, the exterior does nada for me, at all.
But, as they say, it makes the world go around… just not my world.

How fortunate for them that they had the skills to do it themselves. It’s very charming and doing it in cash over a longer period may have been an inconvenience at times but you’d never know it talking to them, they were very focused! Well done!
