From Narrow Boat to Caravan: Emily & Cameron’s Alternative Tiny Lifestyle

This post contains affiliate links.

Emily and her husband Cameron first lived together in a narrowboat before moving back on land into a stationary caravan in the United Kingdom, which means they’re no strangers to living tiny.

She’s decorated the place into a Bohemian wonderland and they love their tiny life with their two dogs! We interviewed her about her tiny lifestyle, so be sure to check out the Q&A at the end of the post. She also told us about what it’s been like living tiny during COVID-19.

Emily’s Hippy Caravan in the United Kingdom

Here’s Emily & Cameron and one of their dogs. Happy family!

The living area in this tiny house is so cozy, with awesome views of the garden.

The little peek-through window from the kitchen area is such a fun feature.

Everything has a home in a well-run tiny kitchen and that’s the truth in Emily’s.

What is it about glass jars that just make everything look better?

Glad to see a tiny house with a mug collection! I’d have a hard time parting with my mugs.

The garden area of this tiny is just lovely, and the dogs agree.

Here’s the couple’s bedroom, and they also have a spare room and bathroom (not pictured).

Now what do you think? Could you live here? Check out our Q&A at the end!

Q&A with Emily: Tiny Living in Southwest UK

What are your name(s)?

Emily & Cameron King

How many people (and animals) will are living in your tiny house?

It’s me, my husband and our two dogs Oakley and Bramble

Where do you live?

South west UK

Why did you decide to go tiny? What are you hoping to get out of living tiny?

We moved onto a narrow boat when we were first together as a cheap way to move out, and we haven’t looked back since! We love to live tiny and alternatively to other people

How long did it take to finish your tiny house?

It’s mainly just our things, we haven’t structurally moved anything just changed a few things round!

What benefits are you experiencing after going tiny?

Not having loads of junk that we don’t need, living with the essentials for sure! And being different.

What about some challenges?

Not having too much space for storage. I love to charity shop so not being able to store endless things is tough. But it’s something you get used to when you’ve always lived tiny.

What’s been the hardest thing about quarantine in a tiny home?

It’s been hard not having that much space to do your own thing, but we’re just thankful that we have a garden and the space that we do have!

What have you been doing to stay sane?

A lot of gardening, housework and Instagram!

What are you missing most about tiny life that quarantine is putting a damper on?

Having our friends and family over, I love cooking for people and having guests so that’s been really hard!

What new things has quarantine in a tiny house let you do?

Organize and make our space more efficient. The fact that neither of us have been working means we’ve had time to make everything more streamline. Plus getting out in the garden more!

It’s absolutely lovely and cozy! The kitchen is so organized and beautiful at the same time. Love the mellon (?) color used through the kitchen and here and there. Truly a lovely home. Great job!
