From Garage to Tiny Cottage

This post contains affiliate links.

This tiny cottage looks like it was once just a garage, but wait until you go inside.*

With some basic tiny house design strategies it was transformed into a beautiful tiny cottage.

It’s located in Portland, Oregon and is actually available as a vacation rental in the area.

So if you’re looking for a unique place to stay while trying out what it might be like to live tiny, this might be a great option. And I’m putting in our tiny house vacations category too! Please enjoy and re-share it for free with your friends below. Thanks!

I am thinking a fireman’s pole for faster exit from the loft would be nice. Too much liability?

Nice! Well laid out, modest but attractive both inside and out. I’ll take it.

Simple, useful open floor plan. Could sleep 5 or maybe 6 depending if the black leather sofa is a sleeper. If this garage was a few feet longer I could have a ground floor bedroom and be happy.

Hate ladders but this one at least has some style, AND THE BED IS MADE! So many loft beds are so messy, but then I may be the only person in the world whose bed is made within a minute of my feet hitting the floor.

Like ladders? This is perfect! Those windows . . .!

If you do make the bed the minute your feet hit the floor you could, quite possibly, be a winner in the Guinness Book of Records. Myself, meh, making beds is a pain in my season of life.

This is a lovely conversion. Airbnb lists it at $78/night, plus $55 cleaning fee. A good deal if you stay several nights. The only improvement I’d like to see is a window in the loft. Worth checking out if you’re going to Portland.

Not only a highly efficient use of space, but done so elegantly, too!
This has to be one of a few piece de resistance spaces among the tiny homes available from AirBnB.
Personally, I’d ditch the leather couch and flip the covered couch over into its spot, then redo the wall with a digi tv and maybe a stereo / gaming center under it.
But otherwise, for a loft home, its really nice.
Cudo’s to whoever designed and built this place. They really did a PRO job here.

I really like this. That being said, am I the only one who thinks that some of these really narrow ladders could be hazardous not just to us over the hill folks but even to younger people? Too bad because the loft really looks inviting!

Not a ladder fan, either. I would have used folding attic stairs instead. They have a handrail. Other than that, nice cabinets, lighting and finishes. Would be a good guest house.

Wow! What a pretty house! Love all the finishing touches that they did to their cottage! I love the shelves in the bathroom. It’s not only nice but it gives you a place to put your linens and stuff! I’m not crazy over the ladder either. But I like Adina’s idea regarding folding attic stairs. ???

If this is converted garage, I’d like to know the cost.
    Thanks.
