Father/Son Design and Build Transforming CNC Minimalist Tiny Cabin… Amazing!

This post contains affiliate links.

This is the story of a father and son duo who designed and built quite an amazing transforming CNC minimalist tiny cabin.

It features two lofts and transforming, multifunctional custom designed and built furniture inside.

Daniel Yudchitz and his father, Bill, are both architects who took their love of craft, cabins and Swiss precision in architecture (e.g. Peter Zumthor) and created a CNC-cut cabin crafted to a fraction of an inch.1

The home is built with interlocking structural panels and can be disassembled. In fact, the father/son team built most of it in their parking lot, moved it and completed the build on the grounds of a state fair before moving it once again to its final resting place on their property on Lake Superior (in far north Wisconsin near Bayfield).1

The furniture was built to interlock and morph from table and benches into a disabled-accessible bed.1

I love the minimalist look of this TH…BUT I must have comfort for these older bones. So some of their beautiful work would not work for me. The outside look is wonderful.

Quite wonderful and beautiful. It looks like it could be made even more comfortable quite easily. The structure is there, just add some soft, colorful, homey and cozy details to make it your own. So carefully designed, They must be very proud. Setting is heavenly and even has good flowing water! I could even make it a tiny bit larger and live there full time happily.

An even smaller cabin but this one is priced a lot lower to around $10K to build…

Love the stairway leading up to one of the lofts. Much better for older folks in my opinion. Great idea having sliding doors to block the sun. I’ve not seen a feature like that until now.
