Nice! Love the special compartments, especially the one for the woodstove tools. Your home shows not only the skill you have as a woodworker, but the love you have for the wood.

A schoolbus is a great place to start. They are very strong and parts for most are easily available. Lot’s of ground clearance and built to last. Thomas is an old company, good reputation.

The primary problem is insulation. It’s one thing to run the heater while driving it, another to try to stay warm 24/7 in a hard winter.

    Nice build so far.

I’m sure they thought about insulation — I would hate to be missing that! — Tiny House Talk Team

There is no added insulation visible that I can see, just the original interior. The single pane sliding windows are still there also. If you have enough wood you can live in a teepee.

David, you are correct about no added insulation besides the fresh stuff Tim put in the walls. He is still working on the floors so I am hoping that will add another layer of warmth. We are currently living in the bus full time while he completes the rest of the build. The wood stove is doing really well keeping the place warm. I am becoming an expert at keeping the fire going in the middle of the night. We got down to 22 this morning and maintained an internal temp between 60-70 degrees. I feel blessed that my husband built such a wonderful bus. It truly is nicer than my 2000 square foot house we are trying to sell!
