  Why Tiny Homes being towed around make no sense to me. If you can either do this great conversion or even PAY to have it done creating a $75K 18′ monument to a shrunken McMansion is backing up. Sure I can see a used Park Model RV remodel for seniors or DINKS but if you are feeling anything like a Gypsi, FINANCES should be your first consideration and bragging rights to your monument might be a little lower on your sense of value. Many of these older units have diesel power and can be converted to veggie power. With the advent of the coming Hemp Oil possibilities alone the savings are obvious. This remodel is VERY High on my “Best Of” list I would go here FIRST if you are thinking about hitting the road young whippersnappers.

    All hunky dory until your motor dies and you have to have it fixed, which depending on what the problem is, and where you are located, could take simply months. Having a home towed behind means it can be parked and the vehicle can go in to be repaired without great drama. Sure be lovely in one of these living inside a dark, dank mechanics workshop while its being worked on.

    I heard of someone who did this and ended up in a motel. Very, very expensive as the work involved was not only very expensive but due to delays in getting parts, along with sending some parts back due to being the “wrong” part sent, ended up a very, very expensive proposition as the motel was in a very expensive touristy location. Motel fees alone cost more for 3 months (Yes… 3 MONTHS) than they had spent in fuel travelling for the previous 2 years.

      Great renovation! Eric, you’re a downer. We’ve had a used motor home for 10 years and love traveling in it, and have done so in 46 states. If you live with a what if attitude you’re going to sell yourself short.

        Thanks, Diane. We own a 13 year old motor home and love it. I also respect others opinions even when I don’t agree. There is a lot of negativity on this site and finger pointing. What is great for one person does not mean it is good for another.

  This is a cute remodel. And depending on how many are to reside in it, would determine if it is feasible or not. I have a 30′ motor home and have stayed in it for over 3 months and was confortable, without any remodel. And I also had 20 plus Shit Tzu with me. It was already set up for the dogs, as I take the motor home to dog shows. It sounds like a wonderful idea, but I wonder about if it was finished with more insulation, including the floors. Otherwise it could be a cold experience, should it be taken into places that have winters. The heat in them is not sufficient without backup heat. Although mine is a foot longer, it does have a lot more storage than this one, and if it is your home, then that is a much needed thing. And I don’t have a slide out. Also it should be considered if it is powerful to tow a car. It could be pretty expensive to drive the vehicle every where you go.

  Amazing, it shows that renovation can be done DIY on a budget and it doesn’t show.
  Dark interior changed into white helps a lot to make space bigger, bright and modern.
  Bill is right, when you don’t won’t to spend a fortune this should be on top of your list.

  What a great job!! We have a class A that really needs something done to make it more livable. unfortunately, I am not that handy of a guy. If you are ever in the St. Louis area we have parking for you at our boondockers welcome site ( “The Dome”-contrary to BW rules, no time limit for you guys). Would love to discuss what could be done with our rig as we have moved to a travel trailer (bigger would be nicer).

  The motor home is lovely. Especially like the bedroom. This dyi demonstrates you can have beautiful things with some good design/taste and a lot of elbow grease. its also very, very environmental. Nothing from what I can see was sent to the land fill. Even if you had to drop in a new engine, this is much better for the wallet and the environment.

  Is there a reason why you put the flooring from side to side instead of from front to back.
  It seems like there would be more waste cut material going side to side verses front to back.
  I’m in the planning stages to do mine
