Family’s 40-ft. Skoolie Turned Into Airbnb-Cottage

If you do happen to own land, and are in an Airbnb-friendly area, it might be worth it to create a skoolie for family vacations and as a way to make extra income! As a kid, we always vacationed in a camper (which was much cheaper than renting hotel rooms) and it’s great to see this family is getting that same fun with their kids.

But instead of having the skoolie they worked so hard on sit empty for months on end, they have it up on Airbnb (click here to see it) for others to enjoy. How fun! And if they ever needed to sell their home or downsize, they have a functional tiny house right in their yard!

The 40-foot bus has a spacious Master living area, a comfortable-sized skoolie bathroom complete with a shower and tiny tub, and a fun living room space that transforms into a giant bed for the kids. Take a video tour with Tiny Home Tours below.

This is really sweet. I’m not sure how practical it is for full time living but definitely we’ll thought out and comfortable for a getaway. It feels warm and inviting with a fair level of privacy with the back bedroom separated from the front. I like the video; it’s very honest and informative. Well done!

Its a lovely, lovely, lovely bus!! Very pretty with the wood and that shade of green. The bathroom is very nice and I like the lay out. I love the kitchen. It’s like a tiny restaurant type kitchen. You did a great job finishing this bus, and the master bedroom is beautiful. The setting is lovely.

There is one thing I did in my tiny bus that I will share for any future bus dwellers who are renovating. Buses have a wall to wall rubber matting on the floor. When you remove your seats, the matting can be cleaned well, bolt holes caulked (and I put sealing tape over the caulking, too) and then covered with whatever floor you want. I started out with a painted plywood floor in my bus, but then put in a plank floor of redwood. In both cases, I left the rubber mat under them. That rubber is a great insulator and my floors (and my feet) were never cold. Just some food for thought. Great and beautiful bus, guys!
