This is the story of a family of four that moved into a tiny house to save money and improve their lives. It’s the story of Hannah, Josh, and their two kids.

Hannah and Josh downsized to a Tiny Home with their two children (ages 1 and 3) after not being able to afford a regular house in a neighborhood near Bellingham, Washington.

Wonder how long that house is going to work for them? See the picture of the 3 year old boy… in the bedroom? He’s essentially at roof level now. He’ll outgrow the height by the time he’s 4/5. So he’ll have to be on his hands and knees at that age, so I reckon they’ll need to get a replacement Tiny Home.

Very unlikely, first the kid was standing by the low end of the roof line and not the high end towards the middle, which is about a foot difference, and second it’ll take a lot more than just needing to bow your head down to need to be on your hands and knees and typically the kids won’t reach that height until they are close to becoming adults.

Typically a 5 year old boy will only be around 41.7 – 44.2 inches tall and that’s still low enough to stand in the loft in the middle area that’s over 4 feet… It won’t be until they are 7-8 years old that they start to get tall enough to need to bow their heads or bend down but can otherwise still walk in the loft…

Skylight can also be opened to allow standing height past that point and the bed can be positioned below it to optimize sitting up space over the bed.

Besides that’s hardly a barrier for what will mainly be used as a sleeping area and most kids like small spaces… So far more likely the parents will grow tired of the lofts long before the kids will…

Eric they said in the video that it was temporary housing to allow them to save money to build something bigger and by the time the kids were going to elementary school they should have enough to build an alternative. I’m sure the boys will survive until then.

Grown men have slept comfortably for years on battleships and submarines in bunks that are no wider than 24 to 28 inches and with very little over head space. So I am sure that children and even teens can sleep comfortably in small spaces. This family will know what is best for them.

Very nice tiny home. Is clean looking. Saw a few in Market place. The pictures were frustrating. Some when you click they are smaller than a postage stamp. Some don’t show the important parts that a woman wants to see. I won’t live with a compost toilet. Experienced them and no way. This is very nice. Shower, walk in closet is something that caught my eye. I wish this young couple nothing but the best. Their kids are adorable.

Hi, your home is beautiful. I live in Seattle. Where can I find land in Washington to build a tiny home?
    Thank you!
    Rebekah
