Family of 5 in “Businante”: Their DIY Home on Wheels

This post contains affiliate links.

Matt and JoAnna bought a home and kept sinking money into it. When they saw other families turning to school bus life, they decided to join their ranks and move their family of five (three boys, ages 7, 5 and 6 months) into a bus home!

In terms of family-friendliness, this bus conversion checks all the boxes: There’s a spacious living area for family time, a kitchen with all the counter space for prepping family meals, a tub, a washer/dryer unit, and bunks for the kids and a private bedroom for mom and dad.

Tiny Home Tours took us on a bus walkthrough which you can watch below. Plus you’ll get the details on their bus name, “Businante.”

Very nice work, airy, roomy, lots to enjoy and like here.
I have a thought regarding the boys bunk and laundry area.
I just wonder how well it might work to have the top bunk reside over the laundry area which looks like it would give a bit more headroom. and then raise the lower bunk up a little more to give stirage underneath and possibly give an opportunity to have a drop down shelf to use for clothes sorting or as a play table or desk tops or whatever. I do like the layout as it is, nothing negative here, just a thought I had as the boys get older and larger. Excellent conversion, well done.

I think their long-term plan is to make that area over the washer/dryer into a third bunk for the baby. I’m assuming he sleeps with the parents right now.

Thank you for the tour of your bus home! Very well thought out for your needs. I do agree with lots of windows and natural light makes it so pleasant to be in. Good luck in your home. You have a lovely family!

Oh that’s right, thanks Natalie. They will certainly need the 3rd bunk.
They have done such a nice job on this conversion.

Very cleverly done! It is a beautiful well organized home. Love the little touches like the built in shelves in the MB and the magazine racks in the dining chair. It is a wonderful job and a lovely home.
