It’s so exciting when you run across something completely unique, and this folding tiny house with wings is undoubtedly one of its kind!
While bump-outs in RVs have been around for a long time, this home features swinging “wings” that fold out when the home is parked. Not only that, but the house is created almost entirely out of reclaimed or recycled materials, making it incredibly eco-friendly. It was handcrafted by Nick (@knicknack on Instagram) and his friend Jay, and is for sale in Salt Spring, British Columbia.
The home is currently for sale and you can get in touch with Nick via Instagram with questions on pricing (according to his Instagram post, the price is 24,000). Thank to you Exploring Alternatives for finding this gem of a tiny home and doing the video tour at the end of the post.

Tiny House with Wings Built with Reclaimed Materials
This is what the inside of the THOW looks like when it’s all packed up for transit.
And here it is opened up! There’s an itty bitty wood stove, induction cook top, convection oven, sink and double bed.
Wow! It takes two people to push it open once you’re onsite.
No, you didn’t miss it. Nick chose not to include a bathroom in this tiny home so as not to ruin the open feel of the space.
But wow! What an incredible little house.

Very nice idea!! It looks like he really had his head on straight about the leakage and insulation too.
Yes he seems quite talented!
It’s kind of a genius idea. I love to see people try new things.
Me too! It’s so fun.
Wow😮 very unique👏
This is so cute! I think it would make a wonderful studio but with out a bathroom it doesn’t say house to me. I also didn’t see any refridgeration for food. I do think the wings are awesome.
It would definitely be fun to have the wings in a house with a bathroom and larger kitchen area.
I’m loving these houses. I have two vacant properties – 5 acres and 2.5 acres in the California desert (Landers/Yucca Valley) and I’m having the hardest time trying to find some tiny houses nearby, as well as requirements and restrictions for that area. Any help and advice is welcome! Thank you! – Marianne
Hi Marianne — for finding a tiny house builders if you’d like to build one, you can check out our list by state here >>> https://tinyhousetalk.com/tiny-house-builders/ In terms of regulations, Town Hall is probably your best bet. I’d put in a phone call and ask who to talk with to discuss zoning.
Nice, but I wouldn’t want those big upward-facing windows in a THOW in warmer areas: they’d act like a hothouse! Better to have windows on the sides of the “wings”, so they’re protected on the road and not collecting sun + heat when parked….
Oh that’s a good idea.
I am really impressed with this tiny home. It is truly tiny and yet has so much room. Love it!
