This is an expanding teardrop camper by Chuki Timeless Teardrop Caravans. They are a small teardrop builder in Great Britain.

These classic little campers are fantastic because they are super lightweight so you can tow them with just about any vehicle. And in this case, some of these little micro-campers even expand… Sort of like slide-outs in an RV. Check it out!

I fail to see what teardrop campers has to do with tiny houses.

Campers are a form of caravan. Caravans are a form of housing. Ergo teardrop camper is a tiny home, if not a house. For some though it could definitely be a house… but methinks I’d end up like the Hunchback of Notre Dame if I tried this particular sort of carry on.

Tiny living isn’t limited to just tiny houses, which is why this site also covers skoolies, yurts, boats and anything else that’s considered small that people can live in if they choose to…

I disagree. It is only suitable for a holiday or shorter stays. There is no room for several ordinary amenities like a toilet, washing machine and the likes. And hardly no space for clothing. So one would rely on amenities being available – unless one poops and wash in a bucket – which is not exactly optimal. And it is not possible to stand upright in the trailer. Hence all one’s living would be outside, sitting or laying down inside. Unless living in a tropical region, where most living is outside and having some kind of roofed area by the trailer. But you still need to build some amenities beside the trailer. So the trailer is only for sleeping and cooking.

I’ve only seen one teardrop trailer, which is sort of suitable for living – because the bed can be made into a sofa: https://www.treehugger.com/tiny-houses/vistabule-teardrop-trailers-sunflare-flexible-solar-panels.html

No offense but what you consider suitable really only applies to you. Since, the fact is there are people who are living full time in things like tear drop campers, cars, and many other things you probably wouldn’t prefer to try either but it doesn’t change that they still serve as homes to those people and they’re making it work in far more than just tropical climates…

Again, tiny living doesn’t only apply to tiny houses but can apply to many things because there’s many different types of people. How different some people can be is part of what has to be understood for why there are people who will choose these options irregardless of other people’s opinions…

Sure, such options are not for everyone but nothing really is and the point of tiny living is for people to find what works for them and that just doesn’t have to fit anyone else!

Besides, this is an expanding camper. So depending on how it expands it could very well have standing height when parked. There’s many types of campers and options can be more flexible than you imagine… Like the fact there are tear drop campers with bathrooms but when people are nomadic it can make more sense to use other resources to have needs met and that’s just part of that lifestyle…

One can have a tiny home and a teardrop camper. Tiny to live in, teardrop to adventure in, for example.

Some folks live full time in micro towable homes. They are the tiniest of tiny homes. If one doesn’t object to a THW, then how can one inject to the smallest version?

I like the idea of an expandable trailer, but I do not like the colors, or anything about it’s appearance. If my neighbor parked it in his driveway, I would be sad.

Cute trailer. I would like to see what the inside looks like. A home is what you make of it , Some like big massive campers and other prefer smaller ones like this . This is a tiny home website and all kinds should be welcome!

Thanks, Paul! Yup. We include all sorts of micro, tiny, and small homes because it’s fun and people are all so different. There are so many solutions and w/ tiny homes there really are no limitations. You can have a tiny house AND a micro camper. You don’t have to settle for just one or the other. That’s one of the beauties of tiny living. Open up your life to more of what you want. Remove more of what you don’t want.

Cool, funky look – but how about the inside? Were these pics snapped on the sly?

    • Alex
      April 3, 2019, 7:16 am

Sorry, no pics of the inside this time. These units are so small it’s hard to capture with an ordinary camera lens and we didn’t have any we could share this time around.

Hello, did you ever produce the expandable Chuki? It looks great. Can they be purchased?

I wouldn’t want to live in it, but enjoy looking at teardrops as well as more ‘conventional’ tiny homes. Teardrops are about the only thing my Mini could pull. Would love to see interior shots if/when they’re available. Thanks for showing it!
