Now this is a unique vacation home with such amazing geometric features that you’re sure to find fascinating. The bed alone is worth a whole article — it’s a dome with interesting shelves that take you up to the mattress area!
The defining feature of the home is a huge circular window that’s “folded” in the corner, providing views of the beautiful woods surrounding the home. There’s also a grand kitchen, and sleeping for four! Let us know what you think. The home was designed by architect Steven Holl, and he calls it, “Ex of In House.” You can watch a video about how he came up with the design below.

i’ve never commented before but this is simply stunning. A work of art but liveable i’m too. Bravo
It’s great to see there are still millionaires that are willing to spend on something not going up their nose. Nice also to see someone who is willing to build outside the normal shapes. Not very practical for Seniors and that shape is going to have limited appeal. I imagine we do need people out of the box what with Sea Rise displacing 140 million North Americans by the end of THIS Century….
Interesting shapes. But it is almost too much and make the eyes wander around a lot, since it is hard to find a relaxed view. I do not think, that I could live in this house.
Holy F**k… this Must Be Expensive. Impressive to be sure but way, way, way out of my (and many others) league.
Beautiful to be sure but…
Absolutely stunning. Well thought out, but could use additional storage for full-time living. The wood walls are beautiful, which is quite a bit different from typical log-cabin type walls. Love the creativity.
All of it looks like a lot of fun, but I do have some critiques from my personal view. The bed would be fun for old-enough to climb safely grandkids, but the edges look like unfinished ply; becoming part of the bathroom is just not fitting in with the rest of the house. Like it is an unfinished afterthought. I swear I squinted viewing sunlight blasting down on the couch. I imagined a near full couch of people constantly needing to move out of the way as the sun moved across the sky. Dust off stairs onto the kitchen counter?
–but WOW!!! What a house!!!
It’s a house built by an Architect, primarily for an architect school to explore ideas and concepts, but also gets rented out when a student isn’t staying there part of the year…
If you look at the 5th photo down, that’s the finished side of what that bed is on top of… Imagine if you were an architect student staying there and being able to see the structures both inside and out, as well as be presented with different ways space can be used…
