Ella Shows You Her Tumbleweed Tiny House: Pictures and Video Tour

In this post I’m showing you Ella’s Tumbleweed Tiny House on wheels.

She started building in late 2011 after her return from College overseas.

When Ella went back to California she decided to build her own tiny home so she wouldn’t have to pay expensive rent in an oversized space.

Today she blogs over at Little Yellow Door.

Her little house has all of the features of a normal house:

  • Kitchen
  • Living area
  • Storage space
  • Sleeping loft
  • Bathroom

“My porch post doesn’t hold any weight, it’s a manzanita branch I found that is just there because it’s pretty.”

Look at more photos and watch the video tour with Ella below:

She built it on a brand new 7×18 car hauler trailer with a 7,000 lb GVWR. The house is about 13’2″ tall from the ground.

Ella has plenty of windows in her beautiful little home and most are accompanied by custom made curtains thank to her sister.

As you tour her house you’ll see brass lights that were used inside along with other interior designs that make it feel homey.

Tiny Kitchen Design Tip

In the kitchen she chose a stove that runs on alcohol which is made for boats. This is helpful because it doesn’t have to be hooked up to anything, not even power or a gas line.

Also notice how Ella installed dish rack storage directly above the sink. I love this. Smart design like this eliminates needs for a dishwasher and saves you space in a tiny kitchen.

Tiny Bathroom and the Pink Room

I really like her downstairs room that she calls the pink room with its corner shelves. This is where she keeps her harp too.

The bathroom is nearby with a self contained composting toilet and a shower/tub made out of a galvanized 2×3 horse trough.

In here she even uses Manzanita tree branch decoration to hang her jewelry. You can see it below.

Also at the bottom of this post I give you 9 ways to hang your jewelry in a small space. 🙂

I love 2 things about Ella’s house. First is the storage in her bathroom. Seeing her clothes stored show that she lives there. I also like the shower. It is creative and a good use of materials. Thank you so much for showing it to us.

Great layout! I really like the way it’s decorated with functional items, too.
Thanks for sharing with us, Ella

I really like that pink room, it reminds me of the old adobe homes here that have a whole sized bedroom with the bathroom cut into the corner for a powder room. My grandmothers and aunt put all the homes clothing in that room in different dressers for the family to shower then come out of the bathroom fully cleaned and dressed.

    Where is the refrigerator?

Maybe she doesn’t need one….? For some who eat organically ALL the time, you practically don’t need a fridge. We only use our TINY fridge for our white wine and condiments or cheese(which I’m not supposed to have).

I love this house! I do believe that I like this one better than any others I’ve seen yet. And I’m taking some of her wonderful ideas! I love the tub shower, but cleaning around/behind it would drive me nuts.

Very pretty. Like the gold tones, especially the way window light reflects on the loft ceiling.
