Elaine Cabin Tiny Home on Wheels by Rich Daniels

This is the ultra-portable Elaine Cabin tiny house on wheels built by Rich Daniels of Rich’s Portable Cabins.

In the past, I’ve shown you one of his park model tiny houses and another ‘extra long’ tiny house built by him as well. They’re both really cool and he’s built quite a lot of little portable homes. The home is about 8′ wide and 22′ long so approximately 176 sq. ft. of space. What do you think?

I really like this one – everything about it. There is “Hiddenbed” that one can build for a space like this. The hardware for it is from Rockler. This would be an alternative to a Murphy Bed – may or may not be practical for a tiny home, depending on the home. It might work for this one.

I would take out the sliding glass door in kitchen. Make the kitchen L shape and not have the frig up in the air. I would have it down under the counter. If you look at the picture it shows a counter in front of the door, I would put corner cabinet, then next the frig under the counter.I would put in a daybed so by day a couch and at night a bed. Also I would not have the big black stove in living area. Love the tub.

Why not have the fridge elevated??? not bending over and down to see whats in the fridge, and easier to clean it too.

Raised fridge is amazing. when you have a bad back and use your fridge a lot, up is good. Less used items can go under neath. Under counter fridges are not great if you’re in a small space and trying to get in and out of it all the time. They also don’t hold much. One of those small thin, taller fridges works much better. More groceries in the home, the fewer trip to the store.

Also I would put the stove and microwave where the sink is and the sink where the stove and microwave were. So that corner cabinet would go next to sink and then the frig. So you would have more counter space. Just my thoughts.

Sorry, this one made me want to upchuck. Not sure why… can’t point a finger at any one thing… just the sum of its whole I suppose. Definitely not me, and obviously I’m going against the grain with just about all previous posts going Luv It! Difrnt Strokes fr Difrnt Folks : )

I agree that the two floor-to-ceiling windows are a little too much, but I like the little fold-down counter in the kitchen. Multiple uses, from food prep to dining table to laptop stand.

Also love the tub. Wonder where it comes from – I’ve been looking for a tub I can submerge in that will fit into my small old bathroom. :O

But I gotta admit, the more tiny/small homes I see, the more I don’t like the idea of having to set up the bed every time I need it. What about when you don’t feel well and want to lay down, but aren’t up to hauling out the bed? The older I get the more things like that are becoming a consideration.

Yes, I love that little tub too. Where was it found?
I was just curious why…the open areas around the tub. Wouldn’t water get down in there in the corners and cause rot to get started?

Could someone please tell me where I can purchase one of these tiny bathtubs? I really liked the shower door too.

I really like this one. Like everyone else, there are little things I would change to make it suit my preferences. We’re all different.

In order to shower in that tub and not have water go all over the place, I would install a round or oval shower curtain rod so the curtain encloses the space while showering. I also would prefer a large window instead of sliding ones next to the kitchen counter and rearrange the appliances too. In the area where I would change the sliding glass doors, I would install more cupboards and counter.

I’ve lived in small spaces, so a convertible sofa/bed of some sort doesn’t bother me at all.

This space has a good feel to it – spacious and airy. I could live in there.

What a silly shower this place has. Water will end up everywhere rotting the timber in no time.

Love the big windows!! Only way to live tiny and not feel so enclosed!! I know there are many other tiny house enthusiasts who agree as this was a topic of discussion at a tiny house building weekend I attended. Great design!!

I might like it if the pictures were a little better. Also, there are photos I can’t place in the context of the floor plan, and I wish the floor plan had a bit more detail.

Am I the only one to be disturbed by the large window next to the tub? Great if you’re in the middle of nowhere, otherwise, not so much! Lack of bed is also questionable. Love all of the kitchen, even the folding counter, but awkward if you are cooking and there’s traffic through the sliding door. Some really neat ideas, that I’ll file away for design elements. Thanks for sharing!

I have been searching for a tiny home to purchase in Oregon and I also want to know how much the Elaine costs. Since this article is from 2014, I didn’t see any additional info on Rich’s Cabin’s website.

I want to know about that tub. Super small w/a sit down bench. This is exactly what we need for our tiny build. Any info on brand, model or where I can get one?
