Outside Van offers custom van builds. You can actually create a wishlist over at their website if you want to get an idea for what they offer. They also have a Ready To Drive Series of vans that they offer. They are prebuilt, one-off vans, so they’re pretty much one-of-a-kind. You can see if there are any available right now. A bit strange with no proper bed in such a big van.
No, it’s just designed for people who do outdoor activities. So room for gear and equipment is the priority.
This is a really cool van conversion. It’s got everything and I love how you can separate the driving and riding from the living area. Great job.
I’m confused why they would have seating for 4 yet it appears only sleeping for 3 – 2 single cots & one bench that looks smaller than a twin. Do you toss the smallest family member in that storage over the cockpit? Or, is it expected one person is always driving and you rotate sleeping? Hhhhmmm……
No, it’s just set up for outdoor activities. Sleep won’t necessarily be in the van all the time and outing won’t necessary involve sleep for short trips, like just going out for some mountain biking, or something like that which can be done in a day and be back home in time for dinner…
Besides, this is just a prototype they’re testing to make sure everything will work and will be durable enough and thus it’s not for sale yet. They do custom, so what people actually get will be up to them but this layout was to optimize it for lowest possible weight and proper weight distribution so you can drive it all terrain into almost any area and push the limits…
In addition to Mr. D’s comment, I get the sense of just how important socialization and “entertaining” is in the nomadic lifestyle: you, or you and ur partner meet a great couple, and invite them over for a bite or drink… they won’t necessarily be sleeping over, but you still have a spot for them for adult beverages. My sense anyway…
The bug slide out screen is genius.
