Doctor Serdner teaches psychology online, while also playing music and painting beautiful canvases. She managed to design a Sprinter van that has space for all of those things, including a heavy-duty drawer to house her creative materials.

Her build process and results were featured on the TV show Van Go, and she is quite happy with the results! She shares her van with her dog, so she is happy with the spacious queen bed since her pup likes to steal most of the sleeping space. What’s your favorite part of her van?

This is pretty nice. It fits her. I don’t understand why someone with a PHD is called a doctor though..never can get used to that and spelling it out makes it seem more so. Dr. seems more appropriate.

It’s because a Ph.D. means a Doctor of Philosophy, which is a subcategory of a doctoral degree, but it is much more distinct and clear-cut and is usually narrower in nature encompassing only humanities and scientific fields. Being theoretical by nature and is more academic and research-focused. A Ph.D. is often fixed on disseminating knowledge by conducting authentic research which means reviewing and identifying gaps in current literature and evaluating the relevance of existing and emerging theories within a particular field.

While a doctorate is mostly used as an umbrella term covering many fields ranging from professional degrees, humanities, and scientific disciplines. The key difference being it’s focused on more practical applications of existing knowledge to find solutions to real-life problems and has a direct application to a particular profession. So would be how you address a medical doctor, for example, Dr. being in their title.
