Devon and Melissa’s 168-square-foot Tiny House Video Tour in Alaska

Melissa sent me a link to her 168-square-foot tiny house video tour on our Facebook Fan Page. And I’m so glad she did because now I get to introduce you to her little house.

It’s a simple one-room structure with an upstairs sleeping loft that you can pretty much stand up in. Downstairs she will show you their…

  • refrigerator
  • microwave
  • oven
  • storage
  • two chairs
  • heaters

If you were inside and continued looking around, you’d find…

  • a television
  • spice and tea drawer
  • a hanging shower curtain
  • a shower bucket
  • heated rock garden

In addition, they have pots and pans, mirrors, plenty of storage, and side tables.

Most kitchens are not complete without a refrigerator.

Ample counter space and a camping cooktop. It’ll work!

The best way to deal with a small kitchen… Hang your pots and pans!

Get your knives to magnetically store on your walls… They’ll be easy to reach, too.

Two, cozy, comfortable armchairs.

The storage staircase is also the dog nook.

Up in the sleeping loft, there’s more space…

Open closet rail, windows, too!

A loft space without windows would just be an attic, right? They’re a must! Anyway, they just used clear drawers for their clothes. So simple!

One of my favorite features is their staircase storage unit which doubles as a ladder to get up into the sleeping loft.

There are two stools where you can eat or use a laptop. They’ve even created room for their two dogs.

Lovely tour, and I agree with her that the view is magnificent. Love the storage stairs – easier and more useful than a ladder.

Thanks Patricia so glad that you liked the tour! Hope that we get to see more from them.

Excellent. Wonderful. Blessings to you in Alaska. I, too, live tiny here in rural south central sunny Arkansas! I have visited Home, Alaska years ago, and loved it. Alaska is great.

Not a problem, Alex. I have many, many photos of Alaska, where I visited (Fairbanks, Homer, Soldotna, Eagle River, Chena Hot Springs and of course, Anchorage, (mostly by bicycle) in the 1990s. Alaska is the jewel of this hemisphere.

Great video tour Melissa, With the easterly orientation, I would expand the front window that faces the mountains to allow in more sun light. I spent 3 years in Alaska have been looking for a way to get back up there. My daughter and son-in-law live in Eagle River. I love the mountains. I think it is great living in a tiny house like that. You have an awesome place. Just a thought though, A skylight in the loft would be nice to watch the northern lights with. God bless. <

Hey Norbert- a skylight would just top it all off, great idea! I enjoyed the tour too. See ya!

Melissa, I absolutely love the concept of small but tall. KCCO, from a fellow Chiver.

What I picked up on was it didn’t look like they tried to phony it up for viewing. Looks lived in and would expect to walk in anytime and see it like that. I have a problem living up to my organization until I make it a habit. I always seem to put things that are not meant to be out on flat surfaces with the intent to put it away later. Well organized, compact and nice. Good job you two.
