Debt-Free Slowly-But-Surely Tiny Home Life in Durango

Sometimes we want “it all” right away — I know I don’t have tons of patience! But Marty’s story shows that sometimes patience pays off.

He chose to build a bare-bones tiny house — which didn’t even have running water for awhile — over paying the high rent in Durango, Colorado for an apartment that wasn’t dog-friendly. For the past four years he’s been improving upon the space and adding plumbing, etc. to make it more like home for himself and his girlfriend.

Living Debt-Free in His Durango, CO Tiny Home

He and his girlfriend do a lot of dishes, so they wanted a large sink.

The couch area includes a swiveling table.

Very handsome exterior with a metal roof.

He built it out quickly so that he and his dog could live in it, but it was bare bones. Over the past 4 and a half years, he’s continued to build and make improvements and now has a girlfriend who lives with him as well. It’s amazing what someone can do with a little creativity and hard work.

I’m not sure. The only community I can find on Google is the Escalante Village and it’s full and doesn’t have lot rates listed.

Where did he park have a tiny home? Only place I can find is the Escalante Village and it’s full/ rented units almost all the time. Would love to move back to Durango if I can find place to put more of a park model home, since I won’t be moving around.
