Dad Chooses 2016 Isuzu Flatbed Truck Life

This post contains affiliate links.

After his divorce, Joe was looking for a way to avoid renting a room with a bunch of guys or buying real estate in Oregon, but he still wanted to be near his kids. Taking this box truck and turning it into a home was the perfect solution, and allows him to join his teens on their outdoor adventures (hiking and kayaking).

His truck has everything he needs — a chest fridge, induction cooktop, toilet, shower, lounge space and super comfortable bed. Plus, the box can be removed if it ever needs to come off and put on another vehicle. Pretty cool.

Nice conversion, and I like the camper can be removed from the truck itself. Things change and the camper could become a stand alone retreat on a vacation site on a river or lake or even in a commercial campground. For now it makes a lot of sense in your situation.

Very impressive rig and perfect for Joe at this stage of his life. Fortunately he understands all the technical and electrical needs and can handle same. (So neat that his daughter is now thinking about something similar for herself)!!! I understand why!!

Well done Joe. In Australia my over tray bed home is on a much smaller truck – a Mazda BT 50. Not sure you’d have anything this small in North America. But like yours, fully self contained and has solar power. If I knew how to upload photos I’d share.
    Happy Trails
