250 Sq. Ft. Couple’s Tiny House For Sale near Austin, TX (SOLD)

This post contains affiliate links.

I’m not sure if you remember back when I introduced you to Steve and Wendy who are a couple who built and have been living in their own mortgage-free tiny house.

This is a 10′ wide by 25′ long tiny home with about 250 square feet of living space inside. Because it’s 10′ wide you will need a special permit to tow it (just like you would with a Park Model home).

It’s located in Cedar Park, Texas and was built from February 2011 to February 2012. Steve and Wendy (the owner/builders) lived in it from March 2011 to July of 2013.

Update: SOLD

The trim inside is unfinished pine and so is the ceiling. The bathroom has a sink and a normal size tub. The bathroom could be set up with a normal flush toilet if you wanted that but right now there’s a sawdust toilet installed. The windows and doors have dual pane windows and the walls and ceilings are insulated with fiberglass insulation. Right now there’s no insulation under the floor. A mini-split A/C system is used to cool or heat the house and there’s a ceiling fan installed to help circulate air. Learn more below. Asking price $25,000.

Alex, please get rid of the obnoxious advertising box; it’s sitting right on top of things people are trying to read or see. Whichever company you are using is abusing us by placing their ad box right on top of what we’re looking at and they don’t provide any “x” to close the box out; this is ABUSE. Please make them stop; make them put a close button in their advertising box or get another advertising company… please.

I strongly suspect your problem is due to malicious adware. I had a very bad problem with that kind of thing. It was driving me crazy. I had to get help to get rid of it and it cost me. But now I don’t have that problem anymore.

I really like this tiny home with the exception of having a loft for a bedroom. If I were a lot younger, a loft wouldn’t be a problem, but I’m in my late 60’s. A ladder? No can do.

I have the same issue, but I think the front section that is being used as a living room/sitting area could accommodate a futon or twin bed and be used for sleeping. Then the loft could be used for storage.

I don’t get any pop up boxes. While it could be malware it may also be the settings in your browser. Have a look under Tools or options or preferences on whichever browser you use. See if there is a setting that allows you to stop ads etc.

I use the Opera browser v 12.x NOT the latest one based on Chrome and it allows me to do all these things.

This TH is very well done. It has a very pleasant and refreshing atmosphere that makes it very pleasant and highly liveable while being totally functional at the same time. I really like what they have done here; great job!

Nice little house. Glad to see a couple more windows on the other side. One was a decent average size.

On ABC news tonight they are having a TH report of several units.

    Very nice home –
I am hoping that since TH is on ABC, maybe there will be an interest in people building places that we could park our tiny home….if you can’t afford your own land and don’t have family or friends who can lend you some of their “real estate” it’s a problem. Again, wonderful, home here.

    @ROGER—

A sawdust toilet is a composting toilet—you have a bucket or a container that sits in a box or cubby with an actual seat; the bucket is filled with sawdust/shavings and then taken out and dumped in a compost set up. Of course this means you need to have access to a compost system set up FOR this. You also need access to what ever you are using to cover the waste ie sawdust shavings shredded paper etc.

This system is not for everyone and if the house is placed where it is going to stay it can be replaced with “regular” household style plumbing or an actual outhouse or even an Incinolet (a type of toilet that incinerates waste) or a true composting toilet where the waste is contained and composts within the unit (altho I think that takes up a bit of room)

The internet is your friend on this one!

    Alex,
Wouldn’t a program to have two side by side Park Model Shells completed for a total cost of $25K be worth watching? Two teams and only using what can be found locally. Maybe some salvage or even an IKEA raid. I suggested it to HGTV and got zilch. Maybe if I can get Jaylo on one of the teams and Ted Danson on the other? We can get shells for about $15K with plumbing and wiring to the sheet rock finish stage. What do you think?

I just read your post and I think that is a brilliant idea….I also think that many of the “gofundme” sites that have cropped up on the internet could prove to be a valuable asset for folks who are struggling to build their own tiny houses.

I have a passion for these wonderful abodes and a dream to one day be able to build these homes and communities for returning veterans, homeless vets and retired vets…their funds are so limited and they deserve so much more than they get;. Feel free to contact me via email or thru here.

Mariah I am pretty busy writing the Park Model RV Design Series books but would love to partner with someone getting this Idea in front of producers with the networks. Unfortunately it will take a major (Star) to get the push needed I believe. So many things are in flux with this country that anything for the poor or middle classes will probably have no options but relocate to another country.(Which I am exploring)4Fathoms Designs.

Now that I see how difficult it is to sell one of these tiny houses, I’m glad I didn’t buy or build one. I think maybe it would be nice to have one in your back yard, however, just in case you fell on hard times and needed to rent your full size house out. That would give you enough income to continue paying the mortgage on the full-size house while living in a backyard tiny house.

    Hello,

My husband and I are planning to build an addition in our backyard and cam across your tiny house-which I just fell in love with. We live in San Diego, do you know how much it would cost to tow your home here?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!
