Couple’s Mind-blowing Tiny Home w/ Dual Shower Bathroom, Custom Outdoor Catwalk, And More…

This post contains affiliate links.

This is Matt and Lisa’s mind-blowing tiny home on wheels. It features a jet black exterior finish which compliments the modern design. Their tiny house also has an abundance of large windows including skylights along the entire roof. You can tell right away that this is a very special and one-of-a-kind tiny home. One of the most unique features about it is the double shower in the bathroom. Yes, this tiny house has two showers in the same bathroom. As it turns out, Matt is a professional bathroom remodeler/builder.

Another unique feature of this tiny house is the extra ceiling height which allows you to stand up before laying down in bed in your loft. I love this! So if you sometimes feel claustrophobic I think it might be different in this loft, what do you think? Currently, the top comment on the Living Big In A Tiny House YouTube video tour for this home reads, “This is probably the most beautiful tiny house ever.” What do you think, is it true?

Couple’s Modern Tiny Home w/ His and Hers Showers in the Bathroom

Full Video Tour of this Couple’s Custom Tiny House That Will Surely Amaze You…

See how you can stand up in the sleeping loft? And you have a real staircase with a handrail. Would you be okay with this arrangement or would you still rather have a main floor sleeping option? Just curious…

I really love having an oversized kitchen sink as they put in their tiny house kitchen because if you have a large enough sink, you really don’t need to have a dishwasher.

Matt and Lisa literally just finished the tiny home and just moved in, but so far, they are absolutely loving it. Matt says he doesn’t miss a thing about his former (larger) home.

They did such a great job with the interior design, didn’t they? From the ceiling accents, the shelving, the custom couch, and the floor to ceiling window/door – it looks amazing!

They have plenty of storage too, as you’ll see in a moment.

To really get a grasp of this tiny house, you really have to watch the video tour…

Matt even designed the tiny house with his two cats in mind. They have their own freedom and ability to get in and out of the house to do their business and play outside. Take a look…

Matt designed and built the entire thing to be completely safe (and super fun) for his cats. And they don’t have to deal with kitty litter inside their tiny house now which is pretty awesome!

One of the other really unique features of this tiny house is how they blended from the wood kitchen floors to the tile in the bathroom area. It’s really cool and unique the way they decided to do it.

It took a lot of time to make those cuts, I’m sure! Well, this tiny house bathroom is just spectacular…

It has TWO separate showers. So yes, it’s a ‘his and hers’ shower. A very rare feature, even in a normal-sized house. But Matt is a bathroom builder and they wanted something special, so they did it and I think it’s awesome!

It’s actually quite hard to tell and see it all, so please watch the full video tour below (or here).

I do not get why the cats have to stay in such a small enclosure – when living in such a nice area. Cats love to climb to high places for lookouts. Basically their needs are not exactly met.

Pretty straight forward, it’s generally not a good idea to release your pets into an area where they can become part of the local food chain. Since, they’re basically living in an area that is inhabited by over 400 different forms of animals…

So they neither wanted the cats killed by any of the local wildlife nor bringing in any dead animals like a dead bird into the house either. So the outdoor enclosure was the compromise to ensure the cats safety and still give them some outdoor space.

But that enclosure directly links to the house. So the cats have free reign over both areas and combined that’s a fair bit of a space for them…

Well, then you should not have cats. End of story. Having worked with animals most of my life (own an veterinary clinic), I know for a fact, that cat’s needs are not met by keeping them in an enclosure – there is not even something they can climb onto. Equally keeping them in an apartment is a bad idea. Then you are keeping them only is for sake of your own ego, when you do not cater for their needs.

I understand that’s your opinion but according to most studies done on domesticated cats and the opinion of other vets it actually depends on the age, breed, and personality of the cats.

An Abyssinian will need more room, and more vertical room, than a Persian and there are cats who will be perfectly content in a small studio apartment. Some cats will prefer to be indoors and others outdoors. While Betas will generally take up the least space, because they are not as rowdy as the Alphas, or as solitary as the Gammas. Along with other factors like how the cats get along, which also is effected by their personality type and age, and the particular things any individual cat may like to do…

So what they need is not going to be the same for every situation and there’s actually many different ways their needs can be met that shouldn’t be over generalized for all cats and ignore how they can be individually different.

Besides, the cats actually have lots of things to climb and jump from throughout the house. Just adjusting the spacing of furniture gives the cats plenty of options, things like intensity of their activity can make up for a lack of space, and again the cats have free reign between both the house and the outdoor enclosure, which is actually an adjustable space.

Btw, there are online calculators that help people calculate how much space their cat actually needs, among other resources available to pet owners these days, including sites run by vets and veterinary universities. So set ups like these can actually be tailored to the pets needs… But like people, it’s just not going to be the same set up for all…

The story is not about cats! But a very nice tiny house well thought and furnished.

          D. Pedersen – for a veterinary and someone who has worked with pets all their life…. you are very closed minded, and I certainly would not have you for a vet for my pets. There is plenty of vertical space inside of the home for them to see out all the wonderful windows. Keeping them enclosed in the outdoor space is a testament to the owners responsibility to keep his pets safe from the outside world from harm, but gives them the opportunity to be in the outdoors (I think its a genius idea). Who are you to judge and who’s to say the owner doesn’t have plans to add on with outdoor vertical space…aka catico? Your saying let your pets out into the big bad world to be killed by predators and or killed by a car, that is not a responsible pet owner. I love this tiny home, its beautiful and I love how they made special features for the special pets in their life…WELL DONE!!!

I am amazed a purported vet would trash talk someone trying to give their animals a safe outdoor experience. What do you think the cat would want, maybe a less than optical experience by people they know love them or death. So many cats are euthanized because they can’t find a forever home. For you to criticize people who are trying to let their cat thrive, shame on you. Not every animal has optimum circumstances in their life, but if they are free from abuse, given medical treatment and love and affection. You should be ashamed for your critical comments.

Maybe there are predators nearby. Maybe they had a cat before but it ran away etc etc.

    • Fred
      April 10, 2019, 1:21 pm

      D. Pedersen – If the “enclosure” you’re referring to is the small box shown in a couple of the pictures, I think that’s just a doorway to the outside area.
If the “enclosure” is that outside area, I would say that you are right to some degree, but just like anything else in nature, cats are individuals and each have their own likes and dislikes.
If the enclosure is detrimental to the animal’s health and welfare, it will show up in a change in personality and the owner will see that.
At that point, an examination and conference with a veterinarian and/or animal phycologist should provide a remedy.

What did they use to support the catwalk between the master and second loft. how did they support that? BEAUTIFUL WORK

    • James D.
      April 10, 2019, 1:44 am

What do you means? It’s basically a bridge, which would be supported by the two lofts and the side wall… Most of the framing done for tiny houses in countries like Australia and New Zealand would be metal as that helps them more easily meet the more strict max road legal weight limitations they have to deal with…

    • Fred
      April 10, 2019, 1:26 pm

Jim Wall – the bridge appears to be cantilevered.

  • Michae
    April 9, 2019, 7:28 pm

I like the style but not the overall height and I guess its not street legal. Although they have stand up loft they arent my thing. Floor plan is nice but lacks a dining area. Eating on the couch isn’t a solution for me. The bathroom is stunning but I would add a second sink to make dual use perfect. I have not seen a washer. Outdoor spaces are essential for tiny living and shaded and weather protection is important too.
Beside that its a great design

    • James D.
      April 10, 2019, 10:27 pm

It’s in Australia and meets their road legal size requirements, which just has to be within a max width of 2.5m and a max height of 4.5m…

While the dining area is outside… Mind, this is in Australia…

    Hello
By far this is the most extravagant tiny house I’ve seen!! Really been searching for ideas and this one has really put things in perspective. Would they mind sharing the blueprint?? Very stylish lots of space!! Floors are Awesome!! Loft catwalk is awesome! Could make a bed for guest (parents) who have issues with stairs on lower level. But this house is Very desirable!!
Question it’s on wheels do they plan to ever move it? Is bathroom setup to be moved and used at RV site?
What’s the siding material? What’s stair dimensions? Are shades custom or where were they purchased from?

    • James D.
      April 10, 2019, 10:46 pm

You might want to contact the couple through their Instagram page for those questions…

Though, it’s on their land, so unlikely they plan on moving it any time soon but it is in the middle of a forest, which may catch on fire. So they may reserve the option to move in case of emergency…

While the exterior is metal, except for the trimmed area around the entrance…

I love the lighting under the noses of the stair treads. Not so sure about the very dark exterior color: it looks great, but wouldn’t it absorb too much heat? Overall, this is a beautiful, well -planned home.

    • James D.
      April 18, 2019, 12:48 am

Depends on the area and whether the house is designed to handle it. Dark colors do generally absorb more heat but there are paints or additives that can make the exterior reflect most of the heat irregardless of the color.

It can also depend on things like how well insulated the house is and where it is placed… Houses can also be designed with features like heat pumps and solar thermal design where the heat is absorbed on purpose to provide heat energy that will be channeled into something else like helping to provide hot water or use it as a natural way to generate air flow…. There’s lots of ways the house can be designed/engineered…

Fabulous house and to have made adjustments especially for their cats makes this even better, as a cat lover and personal slave myself. As to not allowing them freedom, in some areas it is forbidden to allow predators like cats free rein outside because of the damage they can/will do to the local wildlife population. In addition, we live in a 38′ X 12′ mobile with a cat, and said cat only goes outside occasionally, under heavy protest, on a lead. We have the windows open and she will sit on the bed and talk (literally imitates the sounds of the birds) to her different bird friends (jackdaw, Chaffinch, various tits) or watch the rats in winter (we live in the country and the ditches and fields are full of them) without even trying to get out. She likes indoors only, as does the neighbours dog who refuses to put more than a nose out of the door. All animals are different. Still a great house and this roof height plus usable stairs make it good for many who would otherwise be leery. Stairs are a problem for me but I could probably manage these stairs and being able to stand up in the sleeping area is the biggest plus of all. The lift the other end could easily be turned into an office or library area because again you can actually stand upright meaning the entire house is practical and usable. Even for me.

Loved the design. I just need wider with a full size bedroom and walk in closet. A small dining area for six. In short a small home. But yet I loved what you did–even for the cats. Good response btw.

Too black for me… but the space seems well designed and, if the pictures are accurate, good vertical space in the upstairs bedroom. I’d do it… in another colour though.

Re: loft vs ground level BR – I have to agree with with Dean. However if the TH included a downstairs sleep area + the staircase loft, that would be super cool. I have a couple younger friends and grandkids who would have no problem navigating the steps…..my other reason for preferring downstairs sleep space is having access to the bathroom during the night!

  • Maggie
    April 2, 2020, 1:25 pm

Well, you did ask. Older people and others who get up in the middle of the night prefer the bathroom and sleeping area on the same level. The other option is risking a fall or putting a chamber pot near our bed like our grandmas had to have. 😉

Judge much? wow … So then, you don’t approve of any domesticated animals living with humans? Since they are not living in the same outdoors environment as their wild cousins?

  • March 13, 2021, 3:15 am

    Hi, Alex,
I love this one. I’m very happy for these two. I saw the interview with Bryce, too. But it’s definitely worth a second look.
I would love it if I could find a floor plan with bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen, in that order, with a stand up loft above the living room, so I could paint, and a sit down loft at the other end, so I could write. And lots of wall space. I’d like a double staircase, as I’m handicapped and would not be able to do the ladder.
But I think that, even once I had my dream Tiny Home, I’d still read this newsletter every night before I go to bed, because it’s so relaxing. Thanks for doing it day by day.
    Love Lyn
