Couple’s Little Living Tiny House: Year Three

This post contains affiliate links.

This is one couple’s tiny home, their Little Living Tiny House.

They shared pictures of their journey on Tumblr, and have been living tiny on a farm in California for three years now. According to their story, they downsized from a 3,200 square foot home in East Bay. Wow!

They worked with Tumbleweed to design the home of their dreams, rented land on a 5 acre ranch in Northern, CA, and moved into their 275 sq. ft. abode in Dec. 2014. Since then they’ve built benches, shelving, cabinets, storage and a lovely deck and outdoor tables to make their tiny house a tiny home.

Well this one is different, a little break from the usual tiny houses we normally see in some way… I didn’t notice a bathroom, but I would think it would have some kind of a accommodation for that midnight urgent need.. Would be awful if it didn’t…! But yes I do like it, even though I don’t know the cost… And I really don’t want to hear it either, LoL…!

Haha 🙂 It’s what the couple was willing to pay, but they didn’t divulge on Tumblr 🙂 And I see a bathroom door, so I think they are covered 🙂

There is an open door under stairs with a toilet and a shower behind or next to it (see blue shower curtain). Cute little TH.

I am happy to hear about tiny housers who are in it for the long haul! I have to admit that it has worried me when I see a house for sale that either the owner changed his/her mind and never even moved in, or one for sale that has only been lived in 6months. This is a lovely little home that would be easy to live with. Best of luck to you!

I also find it encouraging 🙂 I think they were lucky to find a spot to park for such a long time — it doesn’t sound like they’ve had to move, which is a huge reason that tiny homes go up for sale again!

I like this. I especially love the coffee grinder and all the different patterns and shades of blue used. What a neat place to live!

Yes! My parents have one of those old fashioned coffee grinders. A fun touch!

Well done! With such a beautiful location, one wouldn’t need much else.

I could use the small room next to the bathroom, as my bedroom, and use the loft for my office. IF I can get up those stairs!

Guess the TV could face the sectional sofa, by the front door. Gotta have my TV! Used to never watch it. But, since I am now elderly, and disabled…I love my TV and my computers!

Wondering what part of northern ca, I’m in Mendocino county and will be living on someone else’s property. You didn’t have any county restriction issues?

Hi Kathie — I found this on Tumblr, but there was no contact info for the couple, so I’m afraid they aren’t going to see these comments 🙁

This house’s setting is lovely. The house itself is simple, but very nice. I like built in L shaped couches with storage. I might make this one, on more seat longer, if possible. The other small room would be great for my recliner chair, if big enough, or I would design the TH so it would be. I have to sleep in a recliner chair, due to disability. I cant climb stairs, but these stair are great. There is storage, a railing and a rail in the loft, with a dresser or such in front of the railing. I personally think railings are a safety necessity. For me, the loft would be for guests, and I would not want any harm to come to them. The Kitchen is okay. I did see a toilet and shower. Wish we could have seen the loft and the bathroom. All in all, the house looks comfortable, neat and tidy and very pleasant.

It is a very nice home. I would like to hear more about the time living in the home. What changes did you make inside? Why?

I would like to hear more from people who have lived in their new tiny homes for more than a year. Is it doable? What kinds of changes would they make if they could do it over?

I wish I could get in touch with them to ask, but I’m afraid all I found was their Tumblr page with no contact info.

I like the rigid linen fabrics and patterned canvas which contrast perfectly with the blue tones of fantasy and crude tapestries. It warns research towards all that is natural, simple but original.

This is an interesting TH with a cozy and exceptional workmanship all around. Love the fact they parked it close to some trees for shade as well as away from high winds. In fact, I think it’s like a tiny farmhouse.
I too love that coffee grinder, reminds me of back on the farm, where my Dad used one like it to make coffee.
    Well done all around!

Wow, an interesting way to angle yourself on a hammock and certainly ends that pesky falling out of said same. This is a great little home they have carved out for themselves. This has always been my favorite design from Tumbleweeds. I like everything they have done with it. It truly feels like a home and not just a place to throw your hat once in awhile. The old fashioned coffee grinder is a great fun touch. Beautiful surroundings, obviously a couple truly in love with each other — who could ask for more? Just love everything about this and enjoyed reading their story. They will have many happy years here I am sure.
