Couple’s DIY Tiny House Parked at a Nudist Club!

This post contains affiliate links.

Meet Mariëlle and Chris and their lovely DIY Tiny House which is parked in a lush green corner of a local Nudist Club in New Zealand that needed some extra income to help pay the bills! While the couple aren’t nudists themselves, it ended up being a perfect place for their 10 x 26 tiny house on wheels.

Because Mariëlle and Chris are from two different countries, they wanted a home that wasn’t tied down. They built this red-clad tiny house out of SIPs (structurally insulated panels) during about 3 months which they took off from work to focus on the home. The total cost for the project was around $27,000 USD (or $45,000 in New Zealand dollars).

Living Big in a Tiny House did a wonderful video tour and interview with the couple, so be sure to watch the whole thing and learn about their epic waste recycle system and bee-keeping!

As you can see, their corner of the colony is quite secluded and lush.

The inside of their tiny is crisp, clean, and simple.

The have a nice spacious kitchen here under the loft bedroom.

They included a low-profile stair system that doubles as pantry storage.

Their bench couch is extra big, and the corner windows give them views of nature.

The secondary loft is perfect for guests.

Look at their awesome drying rack on a pulley! They also have a laundry chute (watch the video to see it in-action).

What a cool couple!

I’d need a dishwasher with a sink that small.
This applies to lots of tiny homes: I want to sleep and pee on the same floor. 😉

There’s an appliance under the breakfast bar, opposite the kitchen sink. Could that be a drawer-style dishwasher?

My mind boggles at your final statement… 😲

For my taste and security, I would not like to fall on the bar from the bed, I would prefer some kind of low fence.

      That’s a good idea.

Totally agree on the need for a barrier or fence. In fact, I would probably sleep downstairs and use the loft for storage or a reading room.

They’ve laid it out very well. Great use of space. The crawl-in closet upstairs is unique. The living area is so large, one could put standard furniture, if you got tired of the built-in sofa.

I’m always curious when bed are above kitchens, as an avid cook how long does it take for the smell of things you are cooking to leave the house, also how long do soft surfaces like your bedsheets retain the smell of things cooked?

      Hmmm that’s a great question.

I once stayed at a nudist campground by accident (literally the last campsite within 100 miles of New Orleans during Mardis Gras), and believe me, there is nothing to see there.

This is one of my favorite tiny homes due to the openness and use of space. I would definitely take away the placement of the fridge inside the stairs and surrounding wall of storage, and having barstools that become the base of the table.
