Greg and Ginger were maxing out on their vacation time every year, just waiting for their next adventure. Finally one day they decided they wanted to travel full-time! They purchased their ambulance sight-unseen while quarantined in Mexico, and then got to work doing a full 4×4 conversion.
They really figured out how to utilize every square inch of space in their build-out. Just wait until you see their hidden drying rack and storage compartment for dishes. Brilliant! They have a shower and toilet as well, and their electric bed slides out when it’s time to sleep or watch a movie.
All in all, they spent $59,000 on the ambulance and build-out. Enjoy Jenna’s tour of it below!

Very clever design! And it’s so pretty, too. I love the shower idea, and the sliding bed space saver. Great job under pandemic stress! Lol! Beautiful tiny home.
I would not have the shower next to the electronics panel.
Off-Roading Ambulance Build for $59K
Off-Roading adventure about 2-5 miles a gallon — they probably will regret that cost.

Your point is valid, although our experience is different.

2003, we converted a 1996 Ford CF8000 commercial truck to our concept of an ExpeditionVehicle.
Cummins 505ci, Allison 3060.

Puttering in the slow-lane at 52mph, we rarely get better than 14mpg.
On rough logger tracks to remote mountain lakes or across deserts to isolated Baja beaches, we usually are at less than 52, so our mpg might be different.

But another aspect enters the equation:
* we rarely travel more than a hundred miles a month.
As you probably imagine, our fuel mileage is irrelevant compared to the amount of fun and experiences along our journey.

Our rig is constantly evolving.
An early modification was adding a second fuel-tank.
Supplementing the stock fifty gallons, our second tank is an additional 140-gallons, for a total of 190- gallons.

After we calculated the savings — plus peace of mind — of fueling in low-tax/rationed areas, we added a third fuel-tank — 120-gallons — on the toy-hauler.
.
In theory, our range is Anchorage-to-Acapulco.
