Their Boho Shuttle Bus Conversion

This post contains affiliate links.

After a shorter excursion in their 4Runner, Miles and Sinclaire decided they wanted to hit the road full-time. They got remote jobs and saved a portion of each paycheck so they could complete their build in a year — and believe it or not, they finished two months early!

Their 2002 E-450 Shuttle Bus included handicap access, which they left in place so they could open the doors and enjoy the view from their queen-sized bed. They also managed to fit in a tile-and-cedar shower stall, cassette toilet, a three-burner stove/oven, and a mini-split A/C (run via generator) for all the comforts of home. Enjoy the video tour below!

I’m an 85 year old wheelchair bound widow in Assisted Living which is VERY expensive . I dream of winning enough money to buy a 32 foot handicap accessable motorhome. I could hire part time help with the few things I need help with. I could hire a driver ( and spouse ) to drive me west to visit relatives I haven’t seen in years. We keep in touch via email, phone and cards. When I die I would pass it on to someone who is also handicapped and would put it to good use. Someone in my family might need it,. My son will be getting another, his fourth, back surgery. I’m working on a floor plan and looking for suggestions. Wish I’d see more such motorhomes published. There are many of us who want to remain free and independent. Able to travel and need less help than Assisted Living deems necessary.

Hi Sandy, I just hope you find a solution to what you are wanting to do. There are motorhomes that have lifts for handicap needs. As far as help getting there, I wonder if having your vehicle, if you could hire thru a group such as Work Camper. There are many people wishing to travel without the funds to do it. I wish you lots of luck. I have a mother who is 95 years old and wishes that she could still travel.

I love how roomy this is for a small vehicle. You don’t need to be a stick figure to shower in there.

I love the quick line about “they got remote jobs” like that’s doable at the drop of a hat.

Depending on the type of job it can be, especially since the pandemic at lot of businesses have been allowing more positions to be done remotely… Presently the job market has more of a problem finding workers than positions to fill…

So true, James. Two of my kids are still working from home because their companies find it more economic and advantageous. More companies are switching to at home positions for the same reason. There are lots in of “work from home” jobs available especially in certain areas like bookkeeping, medical records, online schools, etc.
