Couple Transforms Old Campervan Into Cozy Home on Wheels – Video

Kelsey & Corbin from Steps to Wander are a sweet couple whose quest for freedom and the open road led them to buy an old Ford E-350 El Dorado Encore camper van that was mechanically sound but that needed a total makeover on the inside. The pair spent months repairing leaks, cleaning up mould & mildew and building custom furniture; and they completely transformed the space into a cozy and functional conversion van.

Their van is the perfect tiny house on wheels because it has all the amenities they need, including a full kitchen with a fridge and an oven, a shower and toilet, a dinette area, and a sofa bed that converts into an almost queen sized bed.

They travel with their small dog, Paris, who has a bed under the dinette area, and a space at the back of the van for times when the couple has to leave him alone in the van. They set up a small baby gate to keep him in the kitchen area where he can’t get into trouble, and they leave the roof vent on, along with an ice cold water bottle for him to lean on in case it gets hot in the van.

Wow! What a great job Kelsey & Corbin did on their campervan!! They seemed to have thought of everything. It’s hard to believe they have a full kitchen, along with a bathroom, and a sofa bed that turns into a good sized bed. It looks so comfy, cozy inside you just want to hang out there! Even Paris their dog has all the comforts of home. They have thought of everything! What a great way to travel from state to state, not only do you get to travel across the country, but you get to do in the comforts of your own home. You save on hotel prices. Hats off to Kelsey & Corbin, they thought of everything! Happy traveling!!????

I know how they feel, I did the same total conversion in 2005 of a 1985 Dodge Roadtrek 2500. Kept it for 7 years. Wonderful souvenirs.

They did a really nice job on converting. It makes a good travel home, but too small for permanent live in. We tried a 3 month live in in a 48 ft RV, never again. Had all of the conveniences of home, except a dishwasher, but just not enough space for two.

You did great for what it cost you for the van, and I wish you well in your journey thru life discovering the world in which you live… I wish I could be a Nomadic person again as it is a very fun life style for what little time I had invested in it.. It a great big world with lots to see, Live, Love, And be Happy, as the world is yours to share in….!

Never, ever leave anyone in a vehicle. There are just too many things that could go wrong and that little dog would cook.

A comfy cabin/van for a couple. Wow! I hope this is only for trips not permanent? Well done!

    Roll your own.

One thing that help keep things cool is to create a frame for a reflective surface like bubble wrap insulation about 18 inches above the entire vehicle. I use one on my steel patio roof and it drops the temperature by about 35 degrees because the roof never heats up above ambient temperatures. The frame can be pvc pipe and made to break down.
