Couple refurbish 1980 Mercedes 307D van into their tiny home

This is the story of Ody, a 39-year-old Mercedes 307D van conversion that the couple originally bought in Germany. The couple, Dana and Lou, taught themselves how to convert the van thanks to videos on YouTube.

It took them 6 months to complete, and now they’re traveling Europe and living out their van life dream. Dana and Lou named their van Ody and outfitted it with a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and plenty of smart storage. What do you think? Could you see yourself living and traveling in a van like this?

I really appreciate the way they built their storage cubbies with latches so when they’re on the move, their stuff isn’t.😊

I love the way she thinks. I am always wondering how anyone can live without a bathroom? In fact if I see there’s no bathroom or at least a toilet I don’t finish looking at it because it’s not a real home (imho). Love what they made.

I really like this van! It is well organized, and just being a Mercedes in the first place is worth the effort to renovate. I like the way the cabinets are done, and the fact that there is a potty for use when you can’t leave the van, like in the middle of the night. I agree about having a bed ready to fall into when the need arises. It’s just a great job! One tiny suggestion. . . a 1″ deep, 6″ wide board the full length of the kitchen to act as a shelf over the kitchen counter, under the storage door, hinged to that strip of wood just above the tile. It can flip up and hold plates, small bowls, containers with cut-up veggies, etc. when you are cooking. Then flip it back down against the wall out of the way when you are done. It would just give you a little prep space and a place to sit or lay things down that you need when cooking. Wonderful van! Happy travels!
