Kothney-Issa & Marek from Living Tiny with the Bushes paid off $125K of debt while living in this adorable tiny house!
Like many young people starting out, after getting married they found themselves with student loans, car loans, credit card debt and more.
They Paid Off $125k In Debt While Living Tiny

In 2017 they set a goal to pay off all of their debt in 24 months using the Dave Ramsey Debt Snowball Method, and during the process of budgeting and re-working their finances, they realized they would rather be putting money towards something they would own rather than paying rent.

They moved out of their 2-bedroom apartment and bought a tiny house from Cornerstone Tiny Homes. It was a little tricky finding a place to park it, they first moved it to an RV park, and later to a tiny house community in Texas. They were able to pay off all their debts, and completely pay for the tiny house as well, by reducing their spending and taking on extra side jobs to earn more money.

Now that their debt is paid off, they have the option of continuing to live frugally in the tiny house, renting it out to earn an income if they move elsewhere, or selling it to use the equity for a down payment on a house that isn’t on wheels.

For now, they’re happy just to be rid of their debt, and their next plan is to save up a 3-6 month emergency fund to reduce their financial stress even more.

I. LOVE. THIS. COUPLE!!! They seem to not only love each other, but respect each other as well. After living it up, they decided early in their life together to pull back the reins and get their finances in order. They should give talks to other young couples about the freedom of living without debt beyond their monthly living expenses. I didn’t become debt free until I was in my 40s. It’s been more than a decade and I still live debt free. My ultimate goal is to build a tiny house somewhere warm and just enjoy the leisurely life that I can lead because I know that I can live well with very little money and still not owe anyone. Kudos to you both. I wish you continued success in achieving all that you want in life.
After losing a 2 BR ranch style Home in SW Iowa in March, 2019. I found a 30 ft 1bedroom Travel Trailer in SW USA under 4K and Parked it in A trailer Park saving $$$ and am. Converting it into my Tiny House very affordably. Oh the Great feeling of no Mortgage and Owning / investing in my own Tiny 300 SQ Ft 8 x 30 ft Home. Loving it in my Late 50’s . Clean minimal n Affordable.

They are an inspiration! The idea to save a “rainy day” fund is great. Hey like the house also. If young people are wondering how they’re going to get their debt under control and get on with life, these two certainly are the role model! Congrats both of you!

What lovely people! The house looks good for young people willing to climb ladders. The full-size kitchen appliances are great for people wanting to cut costs by cooking and eating well at home instead of at restaurants. I like the bright yellow accents on the exterior.
The outside is very pretty. The Yellow stands out and adds class to the unit. Love the exterior choices. Inside is clean, very well decorated. Best part is the couple and how happy they look. Bless you both. You did a fantastic job on your tiny home.
