Couple Living and Touring in DIY Tiny Home on Wheels

This post contains affiliate links.

Meet Jenna and Guillaume. They’re a DIY tiny house couple who’ve built a 20′ tiny home on wheels and now they’re getting ready to travel around the United States for one year with their little house in tow!

They started building their home in California but ended up finishing it in Illinois. In the video you’re about to see below- thanks to Deek at Relaxshacks.com– they’re in Philadelphia at a Tumbleweed workshop.

Definitely watch the entire video below- and pay attention too- because you’re going to get to see tons of space saving techniques. Plus some creative (yet simple) use of multi-functional furniture that you may not have ever thought of before.

Oh my gosh! Where to begin to praise this tiny house? I love the exterior; I love the bathroom with the metal finish on the walls; I love the use of crates for storage and furniture that rolls out of the way; there is nothing about this house that isn’t creative and beautiful and cozy. How’d ‘dat dawg get up ‘dat ladder?! Great job and best of luck in your future endeavors.

I know! I loved how the dog is able to get up to the loft on his own. Sooo cool! Thanks Marsha!

I think they are great but wheredo you get the frame to build on?

    • September 17, 2014, 12:48 pm

We built it from the “trailer up”, including the framing. But Tumbleweed sells “Amish Barn Raisers” that come with the framing already done.

What a fun adventure. Great video Deek. Jenna’s fantastic style sense is really evident. Great choice painting the walls. It made all the reclaimed pieces seem so intentional. My only question is, where do they store their clothes?

    • September 17, 2014, 12:50 pm

Thanks Melissa! Glad you like our house. We can fit plenty of clothes in the crates that we use for the staircase and in our bathroom.

This is one of my favorite tiny house tours I’ve seen so far. I just love their creativity. Those stairs are just so clever… and that their cute little dog can get up and down those is just the ideal. I always love a tour that includes a canine… as that’s how my tiny home would have to be, so nice to see how the canines are living in their tiny homes! Thanks to Jenna and Guillaume for sharing their home… it’s just beautiful!

“Those stairs are just so clever”

The steps are clever, but not a new idea, previous tiny owners have done that if you look on youtube and blogs.
Not to take anything away from them, they have taken many clever ideas of previous builders and built a real humdinger of a tiny house; painting the sides of the house white so as to not overwhelm the eye with wood patterns, the fold away table (although i think she made it too long.),
the dormers in the loft, corrugated metal in the bathroom. the stacked boxes. even the pipes/flanges as curtain hangers

that house just looks so well built, i am quite jealous. i am lucky to have a home, but i am rather tired of the annual sewer backups, and 500/mo heating bill in Feb. and trying to get 600 dollars together for porch steps.

      Thanks Kelli!

I am impressed–my first time posting. No cookie-cutter mass-produced house here! Definitely on my top 5 trailered tiny houses. Jenna’s right: pinterest heaven! Thanks for sharing Jenna, Guillaume, Alex and Deek!

Okay, tell us where they got the awesome sink that they spent so much time looking for? Who makes it? Who sells it? Where did they finally find it?

A really nice house! The loft is impressive. I live the way it has so much light that it feels open and airy… a room with a view!

It looks like a lot of thought an planning went into the building of this house. The seating area that turns into a bed and then into dining is pure genius!

And the dog was very well-mannered. 🙂
