Former CEO Builds Small Home, Tiny Cabin and Treehouse

After serving as CEO of Virgin America most people would think you’d find Fred Reid in a large luxurious home. But that’s not him. Instead he’s kept his small home and built a tiny cabin as a backyard office as well as an elevated treehouse cabin up in the trees.

I had to share this amazing video, interview and guided tour with you where you get to see his homestead in Sonoma County. This is where his small house, backyard micro cabin, and elevated treehouse are at. And one of the best parts is that his land is located in a Redwoods forest.

I’d love to have an article to read and not a video to watch. I process things better through reading.

Ok J. King, I’ll take a little more time with each story even if it’s a video and make my own typed out version of it more often. Thanks for letting me know!

Thanks, Alex. You do a great job with the site and the email. I really appreciate the effort you put into this.

I’ve learned a fair bit about tiny houses and have enjoyed many of the other articles you have shared in the past.

Please keep up the great work.

I agree with J.King.. Videos are nice.. And I am learning so much! Ideas drool- worthy ( sometimes like Deadrock and Calhow.. Drooling and mopping up.. And yes some swooning!! ) and really neat concepts of what todo and HOW todo it!!
My problem is that I am hearing impaired and it’s hard to hear what’s being said..
Other than that.. Keep up the awesome work Alex and Andrea!! This is so cool!!

Useful, and lovely, source. I really like the shelving construction in the cabana and have made notes accordingly. Only the main supports need to be notched, the rest just slots into place. A handsaw, hammer and chisel, ruler and pencil, straight edge and cutting support are all that is needed to custom build this way. Dowels, glue, or screws would add stability along with fixing them to the wall. Cupboards, drawers and sliding shelves are optional. Neat.
    Thanks Alex.
