If you are looking for a one of a kind custom travel trailer that is guaranteed to turn heads, this is the one!!

We are selling our 2017 custom-built cargo trailer camper conversion. The trailer is a 6×12 ‘Carry On’ trailer, sold by Trailer Plus. It is a single axle with a rear ramp. The interior height is about 6-4. The weight of the trailer was about 980lbs and I estimate the added work and material added about another 500lbs. We easily towed it with a Toyota Venza.

The trailer was built for my wife and I. We wanted a smaller simpler yet practical trailer. We did not want a trailer we had to spend a lot of time ‘prepping’ prior taking it out. We wanted a trailer we did not have to mess with grey and black tank sewage. We wanted a trailer that was almost ‘stealth like’ parked and while towed on the road. Another important factor was, we wanted the trailer to be light and could be towed by just about any regular car. Lastly, we wanted the interior to be unlike any regular trailer, we wanted it modern, fun and glam like! Check the pictures and see if we succeeded.

We added three windows that can be opened. We added dual French glass doors in the rear. When traveling and for security at night, the doors are hidden by the ramp. When the ramp is lowered, we level it and use it as a deck. A three-speed, reversible ‘Fantastic’ fan was added as well.

The entire trailer was insulated with at least 1” rigid insulation. The ceiling has almost 2 “ insulation and a special reflective white coating on the roof.

There is no regular plumbing to deal with. There is a sink with a portable freshwater tank and a ‘return’ tank under the sink, easy in and out. The faucet is a chrome pump style, primarily used in boats. The few times we did not camp at a campground, having toilets, we had a 7-gallon bucket with a plastic lining with kitty litter at the bottom. The bucket even had a real ‘toilet seat’. We never had to use it.

To make the electrical system simple and efficient, we stuck with 12V and all lighting are LED. Speaking of lights, we are strong believers in having lots of lighting options, to create a different ambiance. There are lights inside the upper cabinets emitting a beautiful warm glow through the transparent Plexiglas. We even added separate lighting under the cabinets with the ones above the couch/bed on a remote-controlled dimmer. There are also numerous small ‘puck’ lights installed in the ceiling to light up the entire interior. There are two added exterior lights in the rear and a motion light by the main side door. A 3 in 1 socket provides us with a cig lighter, dual USB and voltmeter.

As the main power source, we use a SLA/AGM 12V 50 Ah maintenance-free rechargeable battery. It is located together with a fuse block and a master battery switch inside the main cabinet. We thought of using a portable solar panel but it was not necessary, as we never drained our battery during our trips.

We did not see a need for a permanent A/C as we enjoy camping on the coast or in the mountains. We did, however, make our own small cooling system by using a small ice chest with a fan powered by our 12V system. We never had to use it. Just as for our water and A/C needs, we decided to solve our refrigeration needs by a simple and portable solution. We use a quality ice chest, stored in a dedicated under the counter space. It is sitting on a heavy-duty roll-out shelf. It worked perfectly.

We enjoy cooking outside but in case of bad weather, we use a small two-burner propane stove which fits nicely on the inside counter.

The cabinets are solid and high-quality hinges are used. The bigger cabinet is floor to ceiling with plenty of room for all your necessities. The upper cabinets have hydraulic gas struts to keep them open. We installed magnetic locks on all the cabinet doors to prevent them from opening while we are on the road. There are two drawers as well.

The ceiling is finished and the floor is laminate. There is textured paintable wallpaper, crown molding, and baseboards. All windows have custom curtains and the French glass doors have blackout drapes. There is a wall-mounted 36-inch drop-leaf table, great for a computer or dining if the weather is not cooperative. The bed is a quality full-size futon with plenty of room to walk around even as a bed. If the futon is removed there is plenty of room to transport whatever you like. There are 6 smaller inconspicuous floor hooks to secure both the futon and other items while on the road.

There is a large lockable plastic storage box mounted on the tongue. It holds 6 leveling jacks, pads, tools and a scissor jack for changing a tire. A spare tire is also mounted on the front. The main side door has a window and the door is lockable from the inside. We decided to keep the factory ‘bar’ lock as it provides a much securer lock when being stored. The same key is used for the rear ramp’s locks.

Included in the sale is the battery, a large 8×12 awning for the rear deck, custom carpet for the deck, ramp leveling system, 2 chairs, the full-size futon and frame, 12V vacuum, kitchen knife set the countertop propane stove, wall clock toilet, and a few other items.

The trailer is located in Hanford CA. Price is 10,900.00. For questions or a private showing, please email, [email protected]

Nicely done, but for my taste to small and no bathroom which is a k.o. criteria

Thank you for the compliment. I totally understand it might be too small for some and the bathroom is important to many. I see the trailer as a tent or teardrop trailer on steroids. A more safe and comfortable alternative.

Very cute! I love the tile. Great option for glamping if you have access to a bathroom.

Great job. This is so cute! I also really like the added touches of the curtains and the clock to make it feel homey. 🙂

You two did a fantastic job. The interior does not look like a cargo trailer at all. The lack of plumbing is not a deterrent for me at all. Camp toilets and solar showers are simple enough to set up. I’m not too far from Hanford, just wish I had the disposable income at the moment. With the amount of work you have put into the trailer, your asking price is more than fair. Happy travels!

Hi Alice! This is an older post from a few years ago, so I’m afraid it’s already sold.
