    This is a great idea, and Pendleton is a lovely place!
    But, if you are thinking of retiring there, do your homework and be aware of Oregon’s tax laws. Some folks won’t mind giving away so much of their hard-earned savings, others will prefer to look elsewhere.

    That’s great…! Another victory for the tiny house movement… Now if we could get other cities, and states to follow suit…..!

      Hopefully this can act as an example so in the future we can point to Pendleton (and it’s success, I hope) and say, “Look, they did it and we should too” 🙂

      Zachary, That’s what I’m waiting for. I live in MA, and I don’t know of a town here as yet that wouldn’t put up a good fight to keep one from trying to set a Tiny your own land to live in. I think even if one intended to hook up to town sewage and electric, and pay taxes also. I would want to stay in my town near my kids and their families. Some day maybe, just hoping, keeping the faith.

        Keep the faith Cyndi Ann, If more people stick together and become unwavering in favor for the struggle for tiny housing, sooner or later things will change… ! And don’t be afraid to be to have other hear your feelings as to the zoning laws in your area, start meetings with those who are in favor of tiny housing and keep spreading the word…! Best of Luck…!

          Very true. If there’s going to be change, zoning boards need to know people are really wanting this, and it’s not just a silly fad.

          Thank you Zachary, All my friends on Face Book know and now and then I put a Tiny up for them to see. They respond every time. They say that’s just what I need. All the best to you. 🙂

      Yes I would love it here if it weren’t far away from my family 🙂

    To Rose;
    I know that area and its beautiful there. Its just north of Austin, and lots of nice restaurants and shopping. That being said it is also very congested as far as IH 35 goes, so expect driving delays. I suggest you try and find some land away from the freeway and more westward if you can. Good luck.

    To GMH – EXCELLENT advice! I moved to Oregon with my retirement income and left after the first tax year because their taxes are so ridiculously high.

    Better do a bit more homework. Pendleton has a 900sq ft min to build anything new. That and it’s not a great place to live.

      Our info came right from the building committee, so I think they have made some changes. I’ve never been to Pendleton though so I can’t vouch for the location 🙂

    I live in Oregon, but on the west side- heading toward the coast. Pendleton is a nice place to visit.. maybe, however, Pendleton’s extreme temperatures – especially is the summer (up to 110 or more)- will not make this a choice for me . But I am glad someone is moving forward with the tiny house community idea for all. In my area of Eugene, we have tiny house community talk for people of very low incomes, but being just a single person who grosses about 200 dollars past the income requirements, I don’t qualify. So my search is still on.

    I think that land may be in a flood plain. I’d do some major research before putting a home there.
