Breast Cancer Survivor and Husband Build Tiny House

This post contains affiliate links.

This is a 323 sq. ft. tiny home on wheels that was built by breast cancer survivor, Kristi Bugajski and her husband, Rafael.

With zero building experience but the determination, faith, and motivation to build their own home, the Bugajski’s completed their house in January of 2016. After enjoying it for a few years, they are currently selling it because their daughter who is in college is living with them and they need more space (especially an extra bathroom). It was for sale with an asking price of $85,000.

We built our own 38′ long, 8.5′ wide and 13.5′ tall tiny house on wheels while I was going through chemo and radiation therapy for breast cancer in 2014-2015. Our build was featured on HGTV’S “Tiny House Hunters ” on August 15, 2016! We are not builders and it took us a little over 9 months to complete our build.

Three months into our build, my husband cut three fingers off and his pinky finger was cut halfway through. Our lease ended on the house we had been renting in July 2015, about a month after the accident, so we ended up moving in with family and completed our build in January 2016 and moved in three days before our first major snowfall!

HGTV filmed us in March and while we have a few projects left to complete, we’ve been enjoying life in our tiny house. We live on some friend’s property that has a pond to swim and fish in, walking trails and plenty of wildlife! We would like to share our story to show others that with determination, faith and motivation – you can make your dreams happen.

It’s located in Mocksville, NC. We’re selling because I got promoted at work and now Rafael and I work the same shift (3 people getting ready at the same time in the am is too hectic!). Our college age daughter is living with us, instead of living on campus, so it made sense to purchase a larger place (with an extra bathroom!) We relocated to a large piece of property with 2 tiny house shells already in place! We’re excited to have the possibility of more Tiny house projects on the horizon!  The selling price has been lowered to $80,000.

This is breathtaking beautiful. You’re story is amazing and sorry you went through what you both did. You are a survivor. If you don’t mind, I will pray for you all. A beautiful home. I wish nothing but the best for you all.
