Old Bread Van Converted into Guest Bedroom Micro Cabin

This post contains affiliate links.

ThisĀ old bread van converted into a guest bedroom isn’t exactly a fully functioning cabin or tiny house but I still thought you might enjoy it (since I did).

Basically… It’s just a private bedroom! But inside there’s no bathroom, shower, or kitchen. Just space for sleeping and hanging out in peace. And it’s heated (and has wi-fi), too.

The van is available as a nightly rental if you’re ever wanted to stay in Vestby, Akershus, Norway. It has over 43 raving reviews from previous guests.

The van is a 1968 Citroen HY. It has a double bed and little sofa inside. The bathroom you get access to is inside the house on the property.

In our Citroen HY from 1968, we have made a nice double bed and a little sofa. Bathroom is inside our house, five meters from the van. We have parking for cars next to the van and hotspots for internet in the van. We are located 150 meter from the beach and is in the middle of the forest about half an hour drive from Oslo.

If you arrive in Rygge airport, we will pick you up and deliver you there for 400 NOK each way. If you arrive in Gardermoen or Torp, you can take the bus to Vestby, and we will pick you up there for free.

If you want to be picked up in Gardermoen, we charge you 500 NOK, Torp 700 NOK (all our pick up prices are cheaper than pubic transportation if you are two or more)

Oh my gosh! It is so adorable! I love the frig night stand, and the clothes hanging bar. Very clever! So cute!

Yes it is cute but a steel bodied vehicle left outside like won’t last very long. You’d be far better off to build a simple timber cabin.

This steel bodied vehicle is as old as I am, and appears to be well taken care of. Even a timber cabin needs regular maintenance to remain liveable over the course of 40+ years. Steel structures, with proper care, can have a significant lifetime.

Eads Bridge (connecting St. Louis with East St. Louis, over the Mississippi River) isn’t, of course, a home, but is still an example of a steel structure constantly exposed to normal weather. It’s the oldest steel bridge in the USA, was completed in 1874, and still carries traffic to this day.

This is very cool, to bad a person could not add a kitchen and bath and a few other things without destroying the looks of the beautiful old van, all in all very nice and great idea. The more I see the more I want to get started on something like this. Thank you. Daniel from Franklin, Ohio

Very cute. Comfy looking! It reminds me of the bread truck that come to our house once a week over 50 years ago (though it was GMC not Citroen).

Such a neat idea to make this! My only suggestion is that they NOT put WiFi inside the truck, being that it is a metal enclosure which magnifies the microradiation the WiFi emits, and that is not a healthy thing at all.
    Thanks!
