This is the Mt. Tolmie Tiny House by Island Life Tiny Homes. It was designed and built by four architectural students who wanted to provide a solution to British Columbia’s rising real estate costs.
Island Life Tiny Homes was established in January of 2016 by four visionary architectural students determined to provide an affordable, but elegant housing solution in British Columbia’s soaring housing marketing.

Built at the base of Mt. Tolmie in Victoria, British Columbia, the Mt. Tolmie Tiny House is Island Life’s first project on wheels. As a response to the rise in real estate prices across many North American cities, the home is paired back and minimal. Building on a trailer not only allows the user to move the home wherever they may please but it allows the home to bypass the minimum size building requirement, thus creating a more efficient and sustainable building.

What is with the ledge in the shower? Was it not possible to avoid this? That is bound to gather water and calcium deposits. Else I like the house.
Avoid? Ledges, alcoves, seats, etc. are intentional features! A ledge, just like an alcove or shelf, provides a place to put things within easy reach that you would use in the shower and is also something to lean against that can be useful for certain things. Like, for women, shaving their legs with much less effort and risk of slipping…
Every feature just has its pros and cons but it would only gather water if there’s no slope to them, same as a roof. So as long as it’s properly built that wouldn’t be a problem.
While other potential issues like calcium deposits are dependent on your water quality. If you have a hard water issue then you either have to do more regular cleaning/maintenance for the shower or make sure the home has a water softer/filtration system to prevent the issue. Otherwise, ledge or no ledge, you’re going to get deposit build ups even in the shower head.
Very attractive build although I’m in agreement with the previous comment regarding the ledge in the shower.
There seems to be a trend towards not including any room or overall home dimensions. Is this intentional or an oversight? I enjoy reading about the design decisions and/or what products are used in a house but there seems to be less of this as time goes on. Perhaps there would be sufficient interest among your readers for a sourcebook of sorts.

I watched the VR presentation video. It would be instructive to the presenters to turn on the Closed Captions – which are strictly Voice Recongnition. This is what people (potential clients and employers) hear when you talk. Slow down! And annunciate! Do what you need to do to correct the Closed Captions that are tied to this video – you want it to be a tool to advance your careers.

That said I’m bemused that the toilet is sitting on a pedestal. Can’t see any advantage to that at all.
Advantage is keeping the plumbing inside the insulated envelope of the home instead of sticking out the bottom of the trailer, fully exposed to the elements… They are in Canada after all…
I’m in Canada too. My plan is to make the whole bathroom floor raised, with a step at or just in front of the bathroom door. This will allow water lines to be in a conditioned space, and room for a waterless P trap too. There will be a grate in the riser of the step to allow the air to circulate.
I think its’ great, but add a large ceiling fan and solar panels……..r
Hey, I live right near the base of Mt. Tolmie! Wish I’d known this build was happening. (BTW it’s more of a hill than a mountain but has great 360 distance views from the top) I like the way the couch converts to a bed, nice and simple, and the way it faces those French doors. No feeling like your lounging area is a squashed in after-thought.
