510 Sq. Ft. Tiny Cottage on the Beach

I thought you might also enjoy this 510 sq. ft. beachfront tiny cottage that was originally built in the 1920s. Later it was somewhat abandoned for a few years so the new owners gave it a complete restoration while leaving it as original as possible.

Some of the unique features for this small beachfront cottage include clapboard siding, a stone chimney, an amazing porch, open floor plan, handmade furniture, and more (see below).

I really like the Spanish tiles in the kitchen and the stone fireplace is really awesome isn’t it?

510-sq-ft-tiny-cottage-on-the-beach-0010

The kitchen is simple but also looks very functional. The door you see in the photo above leads to the bathroom which was added onto the house but unfortunately no photos available of the inside of the bathroom right now.

510-sq-ft-tiny-cottage-on-the-beach-0011

The vaulted ceilings help it feel spacious and even more open. Notice above and below the large wood plank flooring.

510-sq-ft-tiny-cottage-on-the-beach-0012

Incredible views of the ocean right from the windows and of course from the porch too.

510-sq-ft-tiny-cottage-on-the-beach-0013

This tiny cottage now has a completely open floor plan which means even the bedroom is open to the rest of the home.

510-sq-ft-tiny-cottage-on-the-beach-0014

This makes it really fun and easy to cook breakfast in bed for each other, doesn’t it? 🙂

510-sq-ft-tiny-cottage-on-the-beach-0015

And- as you can see below- there’s a futon couch that converts into a bed so you can sleep more people (this is a vacation cottage).

Even though it is a vacation cabin, can’t you just imagine yourself living in it?

This is exactly what a beach house should be, perfect in every way. Wish you could find one of these on the SC coast for a reasonable price. That’s my retirement dream ( hubby’s too!)

I agree Gale, although i’m looking for something like this on the Delaware coast… would love to know restrictions in the US. I’m just beginning to plan for retirement and simple living is the perfect direction, but most people seem to own land already. I’d love to know about east coast small house communities; do they exist?

I am here on the SC coast, waiting for Hurricane Irma to come and wipe us off the map. We were already flooded during the last two October storms; almost got it all repaired, and they are predicting huge storm surges and waves this time. My dream is a tiny house on a barge, that will rise and fall with the storm surges, and still have the beautiful view. Now if I could just find a tiny house builder that wanted to do that for me.

I would love to stay there some stormy weekend. Not a hurricane mind you but just some weekend when the wind was a howling and the rain was a coming in sheets with a little lightening a flashing and the peals of thunder a rolling across the bay. And me and maybe an old dog snuggled up in that little bit of a cabin. Hope there is a generator for when the power is out. It would be a good place for a light house.

You bet I would live there. Our cottage is not much bigger than that 535 sq feet and it is more than comfortable for 2 people. Where is this location? I would love to plan a vacation there too!

Now this cottage by the sea is more like it! Absolutely breath-taking views, a modern cottage, and well kept! I’d live here in a heartbeat! Can you imagine waking up and looking out the window each morning! Wow!

It’s just simply beautiful! I love the bed but would like just a teensy bit of privacy, but no biggie. I had an apartment with a murphy bed, and it was so uncomfortable–not like a bed at all. Love the stone fireplace but I wonder if the little wood burner is really big enough to heat the whole place when needed. The cast iron pots hung on the fireplace is brilliant, and everything looks so “homey”. Wonder how high the water comes at high tide and during a storm. What a fun place to stay–I’d do it in a minute.

I’d build a loft right over where the bed is…so therefore more room for the couch and chairs downstairs…i was thinking why was the fire place behind/part of the kitchen ..then i seen the table chair bistro type…i live it way it is :)..loft is must..and where the mirror is ..at little stair case 🙂 ..otherwise it’s awesome little comfy place to be!

I also love this cottage. I need to get me a log cabin built by some of the guys that build tiny homes etc. This would be great if we put logs in place of the wood & a loft like you suggest , & I gotta have a tub in the bathroom. I want this so bad. I own a brick home in Va. but I need to move to MN. to be close to my baby girl, her husband & 2 grand babies. I just turned 68 & I ain’t gonna live forever. Someone Please help me. Thanks & God bless you, Brenda

My seven year old grand daughter has decided that JUST US TWO are going to live in this place where our ancestors CAME FROM!

Absolute perfection! The only thing I wondered about was the position of the two fire extinguishers right next to that LOVELY fireplace—but other than THAT minor quibble—I LOVE THIS!

This cottage is just 4 miles down the coast from where I live in North Cornwall. It is possibly one of the most stunning locations in England. I have been in the cottage a couple of times and it is amazing, done so nicely. Not sure I would want to be in there during a wild winter night with the surge of the Atlantic on the door step.

I could invision myself living in this beautiful cottage! Sitting on the porch having breakfast, smelling the ocean air, watching the tide come in! I can see myself sitting in front of that fireplace at night and enjoying the warmth it gives off! Cooking in the homey kitchen and enjoying dinner overlooking the ocean views from the dining room table! This cottage is sitting in a beautiful setting overlooking the ocean, the views from the cliffs above! What a wonderful location to have your home situated in! The home itself is just gorgeous! Thank You for sharing! I really enjoyed touring it!🦀🐟🐠

From the view of the back, you can see the bump out for the bathroom and fireplace. A slight modification could be a similar bump out on the other side and move the bed in there. Doesn’t even need to be a large addition, almost a sleeping alcove. Otherwise I would be happy there in the current location or maybe a nice forested glen in Vermont.

Nice, very nice. Wondering how it is powered? Didn’t see any wiring on the outside and couldn’t detect any solar cells.

Regarding the Fire Extinguishers hanging to the left of the wood stove. One is a container holding just pressurized water (you can tell by the way the hose is configured) most likely for the wood burning stove and the other is most likely standard A,B or A,B,C powdered baking soda content in case of a grease fire from the kitchen stove. Good safety features and most likely lowers their insurance costs for the place.

This is adorable! I would like to find a way to have just a bit more counter space in the kitchen and I’d bring in a Murphy Bed. There are ones that are attached to a couch so you could have two couches during the day or a party and then turn one of them into a bed at night. I love the atmosphere and character of this little house!
